Problem Pairing Blackberry 8700 w/ BlueAnt Z9 Bluetooth Headset

- Blackberry 8700 (not 8700c) with 4.2.1.96 System Software
- BlueAnt Z9 bluetooth headset

I followed the BlueAnt pairing procedure, to the letter, several times and the two devices will not pair up. "No new devices found."

Any ideas?

The problem was with the Z9 and the tip came from another FixYa user - thanks! From the power-off state you need to get Z9 into the pairing mode, in which the blue light *continuously* blinks fast. The instructions do not mention this. I forget exactly how I did it but pretty sure it was the timing of powering up the device and holding down both VOL buttons. I may try it again and send an update.

My Blackberry searches but cannot locate and pair with the Blue Ant. I suppose I will call customer care.

Same issue with my 8700. I can pair my BlueAnt Z9i with my Curve, but it won't pair with the 8700. I get a "no devices found" message every time, and I've followed the pairing instructions exactly. Does anyone know how to solve this?

This problem has been solved by turning on the blue ant system then holding down the vol - and vol + buttons simultaneously for 5 secs.

How can i set the em227pk bluetooth up for pairing? plz help.

In order to pair a BlackBerry smartphone with a Bluetooth enabled device (e.g. a Bluetooth enabled headset), the Bluetooth enabled device must be in pairing mode. Most Bluetooth enabled devices are not set to pairing mode by default. Refer to your Bluetooth enabled device manual for instructions on how to set the Bluetooth enabled device to pairing mode.
To pair the BlackBerry smartphone with a Bluetooth enabled device, complete the following steps:
1) On the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options > Bluetooth. If you cannot find the Bluetooth option,
2) Open the menu and select Add Device. The Select Device list appears and lists Bluetooth enabled devices that are in range and available to be paired.
Note: Only BlackBerry smartphones enabled with Bluetooth technology that are in range and in pairing mode will appear in the available Select Device list.
3) Select the Bluetooth enabled device with which you are pairing. The Enter passkey dialog appears.
4) Type the passkey to authenticate the Bluetooth enabled device. Most Bluetooth enabled devices contain a hard coded passkey. See your Bluetooth enabled device manual for the passkey.
Note: 0000 is the universal passkey for pairing any Bluetooth enabled device with a BlackBerry smartphone.
Note: Once a Bluetooth enabled device is paired, it appears in the Paired Devices list. The Bluetooth enabled device will no longer appear in the Select Device list.
Bluetooth devices are manufacturer specific. Please refer user manual for instructions on how to pair with other devices.

Blackberry 8700c Problem.

Your Blackberry 8700 has a older version of bluetooth which does not allow file transfer. That is the reason your phone does not receive anything. The bluetooth version on your phone is designed for hands free bluetooth devices only.
