Question about GE DBSR453EBWW Electric Dryer
My wife said the dryer made a noise but was the drum was not turning. I took the top off and the drum would not turn but would start when I assisted by turning the drum.
I could see the red from the heating elements. When I opened the door, the drum stopped but the heating elements seemed to stay lit.
The problem dosen't sound like the motor. Check to see if the drive belt is loose and slipping. This is the usual cause of the problem you describe. If not, the bearings for the drum may be going bad. The heating elements should turn off shortly if the drum stops so there is little danger of overheating.
