I've worked 11 hours in 2 days and lost my work two times now - literally in tears -not a computer expert at all but I save my work several times throughout the day - even to a disk.......went to dinner came hom e - open it up and it is the same document I saved this morning - 6 hours of data entry gone - I did the same thing yesterday - except I blamed myself but today I KNOW I saved it - a bunch of times and especially when I closed it - it didn't prompt me to save it so it HAD TO HAVE SAVED - sorry for any spelling errors
-   I put 9 hours of work on excel spreadsheet. I chose the save option a few times through the coarse of my work. I can't find any of it. Help!-   erin128
I find this a little perplexing too. Without sounding patronising are you sure you are saving it to the same location that you are attempting to open it from?
Something to try.. Excel keeps a record of the last 4 things you were working on in the file menu. Try clicking 'File' then the 2 little down arrows (if they are there) and it should bring up a list of previous documents. Try the last one or 2 and see if either of these are a more up to date version than the one you last worked on. If so in future always choose 'File' - 'Save as' when saving a document and make sure you choose a document path you are sure of.
Really hope this helps.
Regards,
Andy

When I open a word or excel file over network from another computer, word starts and then waits 1-2 min and then it opens file (even the smallest ones). If I copy the same file over network and then open it it's instant.
