SOURCE: 3 of 4 knobs do not compress to turn on gas

You must replace those controls. Cleaning or loosening them up would be temporary at best and the next time they stick it could be in the open position. Safety first...Eric

Definitely cut your loses and get a cooktop with a warranty. That unit sat on the back shelf for a reason.......it didn't work properly.

Also, but a cook top that is compatible with the safety knobs they sell as child guards at places like lowes and home depot.

Burner will not ignite but electroic spark s are working, sparks will not stop after burner is manualy lit

I have had this same issue with continuous sparking after a burner was lit.
Problem 1. Wet or dirty ignitors/burners. Solution: clean and/or dry (I assume this resolves electrical issues). This has usually solved the problem
Problem 2. Stuck or dirty control switch. Solution: remove knobs and spray electrical-cleaner into switches. AMAZING... no more clicking plus burners now burn hotter when set to HI. I assume this frees-up the movement of the switch to prevent it thinking you are pushing it ON... and thus asking for spark... plus greater range of switch and/or higher flame settings available once lit. A no-cost miracle! ( I used "PureTronics" brand Electrical Contact Cleaner spray can, 1 sec, 2X).

When one burner knob is turned to ignite all four burners turn on.

What do you mean by "all four burners turn on"
Some electronic ignite systems turn on on all the burners, But just the SPARK not the gas part of the burner.
Is this what you are describing?.

I have a GE JGP963 gas cooktop. When you turn the knob the igniters come on all the burners. The spark is good. This works on all knobs. But what happens is that it will not light. It appears there is no...

Hello, Is this a new unit? Is it still under warranty? Has it been recently worked on or converted to another type gas? I'd call the manufacturer (or the company that installed it) and have them send out a qualified technician to fix it. Are the burner flames a nice even blue color? Can you adjust the flames from high to simmer without them going out. If it was converted to another gas type, it's possible the wrong size orifices were put in or possibly that it needs to be converted because it is a natural gas unit that should be changed to propane, or vice-versa. Also be sure the appliance regulator was switched over to the correct type of gas. These are just a few ideas that come to mind. Let me know if any of these apply. Douglas

Ignitor does not spark on first turn as stated in manual. I have to turn the knob past "lite" before flame comes on.

Is it just one burner knob that does that are all of them? If it is just one then the igniter switch built into the burner knob might be out of alignment or loose. This happens most of the time due to a cracked switch housing(made of plastic). This can also happen if the actual burner knob is cracked and/or loose. If all the burners do this then it is just the way the cooktop works. The best way to get the burners to light is by slowly turning them on until they light and not pay attention to the "light" mark. You might need to turn it just past the "light" mark for the burner to come on.

Thermador Cook 'n' Vent Stove with stuck vent (model # SGCS304RS)

I just had a similar problem. The switch knob, and backer for the blower got jambed in the housing. After pulling it all apart I called the parts center at Thermador and ordered a new switch. If you can hear the motor the raises the unit run, then that could be your problem.
