Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional for PC

Microsoft word won't open

When I try to open Microsoft word 2003, the small 4x4 box that has he logo pops up and that's all that happens. It will continue like this for hours! If I go to the task manager it shows that WINWORD is under processess and then I can "end the process" to stop this. If I try to open it again, it will ask if I want to open in safe mode. If I do this, word will open in safe mode, but when I try to open a document, it will freeze and say "not responding". Please help!

Go to the Add and Remove programs within the Control Panel choose Microsoft Office, then REPAIR. If that does not work, uninstall and reinstall after turning off your antivirus momentarily.

Try fixing it under the REPAIR option in Add/Remove software for all of Office. If that does not work, reinstall it.

In which we can open .docx files

You can open docx extension files only with MS Office 2007. If you wish to open it in earlier versions you have to save it again in compatible mode. Click on File (top left most corner with the logo), Save As, Word 97-2003 Document. Just using Save option will save your document as "docx" and not "doc" document.

Pop ups asking for email passwords in Outlook 2003

It's like they told you, its a Microsoft issue, sort of.

The application has a corrupt registry key, reinstalling the application, the MS outlook 2003 will 'magically' fix the problem.

The only other thing that makes that window pop up, besides the obvious, which is you reset your password, is when you are trying to cross a domain. And if you asking in your head, what is that, then you probably not doing it. It doesnt happen by accident.

Just re-install the software, takes 5 minutes, and brings years of relief...hehe

oh, to test my theory, set up outlook express with the same settings you have in your outlook 2003. You probalby have outlook express already installed on your computer, just click on start, all programs, outlook express, if you dont see it, its a free download,

just go to google.com and type in download outlook express and install it, then open it, click on tools up at the top, then accts, then mail tab, then add

type in the info its asking for , like your pop servers name, and the smtp server

the default ports are 110 for incoming, and 25 for outgoing

spin

.

Windows pop up problem

Hey,
try to use Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to fix the problem:
http://tinyurl.com/45x45

or try this solution from Microsoft:

  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type Regedit and then click OK.
  3. Locate and select the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common
  4. Select the UserData DWORD value for the above key.
  5. On the Edit menu, click Rename.
  6. Rename the UserData DWORD value to UserDataOld.
  7. Find the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common
  8. Find the following value: OSAShortcut. If it does not exist, create it. On the Edit menu, click New and then click Dword. Name the value OSAShortcut, and then set the value to 1.
  9. On the Registry menu, click Exit.
  10. Start any Office program.NOTE: The same Windows Installer dialog boxes appear one more time.

  11. When you are prompted, type your name and initials in the User Name dialog box, and then click OK.
good luck :)
