Question about Tektronix Phaser 780P Laser Printer
Well I have replaced fuser unit w/roller, imaging unit, ink cartiridges. When I print a consumble sheet all I print is black, the black looks good, but I need color. Please give me a suggestion.
SOURCE: Fuser change help
is it asking you to reseat the fuser or reset the fuser?
These printers do not have any kind of reset for new consumables such as the fuser. They will be automatically detected by the printer. Though sometimes it will take several hundred pages before the proper levels are detected on the new parts.
If it is asking you to reseat the fuser then you need to open the front panel and remove the fuser. Once it is out make sure that there aren't any pieces of paper or protective plastic that are covering any of the connectors.
Once that is done, simply slide the fuser back into place and re tighten the screw that holds it in. After the fuser has been reinstalled you will need to turn the big blue knob on the fuser several turns in the direction of the arrows that are printed on the knob.
You can do this procedure either with the printer turned on or off.

SOURCE: I have Tektronix Phaser 780
It appears that the printer might not be recognizing the printer cartridge. Please turn off the printer and unplug all cables. Remove all the cartridges and reseat them, make sure all are fixed properly. Keep on holding the power button to 15 sec (make sure power cord and any other cord attached to the computer is disconnected). Once finished, pluggin the power cable and restart the printer, that should take care of the business.
Thanks and regards,

Not sure if this will work, I am not a Tektronix expert, but, most OEMs just write different data to their various customers chips so that they won't work unless it has the correct data. So there are companies that sell chips that will have the data for the various printers. They are called reset chips. If the QMS drums are identical mechanically, then all you need is a reset chip for the tektronix. This is a link from a company that sells reset chips, and claims to have one for the tektronix 780.
I think this what you are looking for. Hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Tektronix Phaser 780 won't start
I had that problem and found it to be simply that the plastic arm of the sensor which watches the output tray on top for an over-full condition got stuck in the UP position. The unit never got to the initialization stage upon powerup because it thought the output tray was full. Just fiddle with that little arm to be sure the pivots are engaged in the holes in its "ears" and that it can move up and down freely.
