If you take off the front panel to access the lamp for replacement. there should be the air filter near by that you can remove. Carefully clean it by blowing through it but use no liquids. If it is too clogged then filter replacement is probably needed. I think you have to get the filter with the new lamp otherwise.

Warning light comes on that T.V. will shut off in one minute & to call a technician to clean air filter.

Sounds like a plasma, or projection system. Find the fan inlet filter, remove the foam filter, and vacuum with a dust buster. You can use a can of compressed air to blow the filter clean, too.

How do I clean air filter on the Panasonic PT-50LCX64?

I feel bad for you having such problems with the vendor and the technician too.
The location of that filter could be a small window in the back cover itself. could be a plastic window to the left side of the unit and is only a piece of plastic poliuretane kind of black sponge about 5 by 3 inches size .
What im interested telling you about the shut down condition and is maybe even most important than where is the air filter (who is one of the more than ten posibilities why the tv goes to shut down.
if the air filter is totally obstructed i would give one of ten probabities of suspicious why the tv shuts down:
first because the tv's air duct is not really isolated. The fan can eat air by any side of the air filter base as i said if the filter is totally obstructing which is really extreme. besides maybe the other 2 fans could help to cool down the unit in that case scenario. In my experience Most time the air filter holds tons of dust but is not totally obstructing the air passing, and really some other problems are in the set.

This is the really critical to know: if any of those fans stopped or maybe any sensor is overheated or the lamp is coming to dead or who knows.. a diagnosis is needed for this symptom really common in DLP technology.

Where is the air filter

No one seems to know what they are talking about when it comes to this issue. I had the same problem for a couple of months. I looked up and down the internet for answers and manuals and came out empty handed. I didnt want to pay a repair guy so i decided to take on this filter problem myself. The OSD should say Projector Fan Filter Unit Needs Cleaning. The fan filter unit they are talking about is on the projector itself. That means you have to remove the back panel. I placed the tv on a blanket screen side down. Revome the board inside the stainless case and remove the projector unit. You have to unplug a few cables...thin gauge wires so be careful. Underneith and on the side of the projector are two foam filters. I vacuumed the heck out of them and its been working fine. You could try getting away with removing the front panel to the right of the lamp. you will see the small foam filter to the left of the projector but there is another one under the projector. Try vacuuming the best you can. My tv was pretty dusty inside so I'm glad to dug in a little deeper.

Unplug the unit! Pull off the access silver panel from the front of the tv. there are 2 sma ll access panels on the front behind the silver panel. The one on the left, allows you to change the bulb, one screw to remove, Just to the right of it there is a second one. This has 2 small screws to remove to access the opening. Once you take this small cover off, you will see the fan compartment. On the top of it on the left side is one small filter, mine was pretty clean. The bear is the one on the bottom, that you can only see the edges, but there is a small opening on the bottom. It looks like it is suspended in mid air. Take a cue tip and clean the underside! I slightly wet my cue tip and it worked fine. I tried to remove the fan compartment, but it would not come out and I did not want to force and break it. Remember to unplug the unit first. After I used the cuetip on the filter, I have a small vacuum and cleaned everything carefully. I had heard to leave it unplugged for about two hours to let it clear after I reassembled the covers. I turned on the set and the message was gone and has never come back. I did not have to reset and worked for me. That was it for mine and it is working fine
