Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have a ROPER (WHIRLPOOL) model REX3519PQ0. When running the dryer, it will run for about 10 minutes, then shut off. We restart it, it will run for another 10 minutes, and then shut off again. We don't have to reset our fuses or anything, just restart it. It is an electric dryer. We DONT have a vent that goes outside, rather, it just vents into the garage. We hav 5" of clearance behind the dryer. We cleaned the dryer out, top to bottom, and got rid of ANY dust whatsoever, and the problem continues. Our garage isn't that warm at all, so I'm not sure if it's overheating or what... In any case, I'm curious if a new thermostat is the answer to the issue? If it was a FUSE issue, the dryer wouldn't work at all, correct? There's no issue with the belts or with the heating element itself... It's plenty warm! Any help would be MUCH appreciated, as I'm having a lot of trouble trying to identify the exact issue!

Most likely the motor getting hot. If this is the case motor replacement is inevitable. The good news is the motor is cheaper than a newer model dryer.
