Question about Computers & Internet
I have a two year old pc with a duo core, 2GB ram, 360 GB hardisk and lately the hardrive is working much more than usual. A month ago when I used to do a virus scan with my AVG virus checker or other programmes, the hardisk was not spinning and all was quiet, but now the hardisk is spinning at its maximum causing unneccesary noise and I believe uneccesary wear and tear.
Any idea what could have happened, have I deleted something, unticked a box that I shouldn't.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Press and hold the Ctrl key and the Alt key then press Delete.
Choose "Task Manager" and on the applications Tab you can see what my be running. Once you find out what is running you can select it with your "Right" Mouse button and choose "End Task".
If the drive quiets down then you will need to find a setting in the software to stop it from running all the time. If it is unwanted software then you will need to remove it in the Control Panel.
Also, search www.microsoft.com for "Malicious Software" you can find a free remover written by Microsoft.

See if in your power options what you put for the amount of energy devoted to your hardisk
also see in your system about your harddisk setting
to assume the worst you have abnormal operation/a virus
and it would cause your system to use it harddisk more
but i don't think you should worry
harddisks are designed to work hard
hope to help
