Tips for a great answer:
Before you can copy files to a CD or DVD, the disc must first be prepared using a process called formatting.
There are several ways to format a CD or DVD disc. Your choice of
format determines which computers and other devices will be able to read
Insert a disc into your computer's CD or DVD drive.
In the dialog box that appears, click Burn files to disc.
In the Burn a disc dialog box, type a name for your new disc.
Click Show formatting options, and then click one of the following formatting options:
Live File System
Click Next to prepare the disc.

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
