Hi, This kind of problem occurs due to failure of convergence output ICs in Sony KP-51HW40 tv. Replace convergence output ICs to solve tv problem. Local tv repairman will do this job if you have no experience of electronics stuff repair. Thanks.
Its called the Convergence.
Its likely a device on one of the main control boards is failing.
these are a common issue on the projector tv's usualy it will be a whole board replacment, OR componnt level trace and replace. This is something unless you are familiar doing can be quite hazardous.
If your not sure get a local shop to give a free estimate, all my projection tv's have done this with time, you can even go into the menus and realign it through tv settings, but sometimes they will start to wander out again.
put a convergence repair kit in the set that will usually repair the Issue. You can get the Sony convergence repair kit which works with your model at the following link. The kits contain the replacement parts and complete instructions www.tvrepairkits.net
Can you adjust the convergence by the convergence menu without going through the service menu? The settings through the convergence menu should save automatically. Have you replaced the convergence ICs? If so the settings should save, if not the D board will need to be replaced or at the very least rebuilt. Let me know if you need further assistance with this issue.
This is common in those sets. One of your convergence IC's has stopped working and needs to be replaced. The convergence IC should be replaced and the convergence circuits realigned by someone with experience in Sony projection sets.
Your problem is a typical convergence problem that happens on almost every tube type projection TV set ever built. There are two Convergence amp IC's that need to be replaced. If you have no TV repair experience, play it safe and call in a pro to assist you in this. Good Luck
I read it online that this is a very simple problem. It needs highvoltage splitter. I tried to open the front panel to see where the splitter is. However, I need some hint as to how to open the front panel. Good luck.
