Question about Mitsubishi WS-65313 65" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

My 2000 65" Mitsubishi HDTV's on off switch broke. My husband thinks we need to buy a new one today. How expensive is it to repair and is it worth repairing? It had a beautiful picture and we've never had a problem with it.

If you have a remote that works the system, I would not worry about it to much.
The on and off switch is part of a board setup with other controls on it and they can be expensive to repair, depending on the repair center.

White spots on screen Need DMD chip for Mitsubishi WD-C657 DLP

This is something of an urban myth....The "DMD chip" is actually the LCD display IC for the set; yes I have seen some listed on EBAY---still a myth----they are replaced (when a light engine is rebuilt in a space age lab or environment) under exacting conditions----if positioned a micron off in any direction picture will be tilted in some way---this is also not like changing spark plugs in a car, if you have a optical engine issue like spots etc, either get a rebuilt engine from Mitsubishi or buy a new set.

They usually require some parts for old engine (mounting brackets etc) be installed on new or rebuilt engine.

I did see the "chip" for another model listed on ebay today.(100.00 PLUS)

I understand the engine is expensive, I replaced a lot of them when the sets were in warranty---more Mitsubishi than any other brand with Samsung a distant second.

I am sure Mitsubishi does not offer the part for sale--they want to sell a tested rebuilt engine only.

I wish you luck but have little hope you will find a "part" other than the whole engine.

Its worth replacing if the image is still bright and clear when last seen it will definitely be cheaper than buying a new one, but if the picture is kind of dull then definitely get a new one other wise u will fix one thing and by the next 3 months or so u would have another problem

We have a Mitsubishi WD52525 television that is not working. I have been told it needs a "light engine" and this costs $1000 to repair. Considering the cost of a new television, it appears this is not a...

No there is not. If your TV needs a light engine, they are expensive parts, and there is no way around that type of repair. It's like when your car needs a timing belt. The part is cheap and you'd like to think there was a cheaper away around the labor cost, but there isn't. It isn't worth being repaired. Take a look at www.walmart.com and take a look at their LCDs. They had a 42" LCD for $578.

You need a professional.
Stop using the TV until it is repaired.
Continue to use it and your problems will multiply and grow more expensive.

TV has sound but no picture

Everything is worth fixing provided the price is right.  However, in this case it's probably not cost effective to repair the unit.  Start with the easier fixes, such as bulbs, etc.  Even then, some of the components can be quite expensive, or simply unavailable.  I would suggest getting a quote from a local repair shop in order to make an informed decision before you get to far into it.  You could end up spending just as much to repair it as you would on a new unit.

Mitsubishi 10 yr old rear projection

Well, there is no lamp or simple part you can unplug and plug in. I have seen a couple of those sets with that symptom recently and it is caused by a faulty 9 volt regulator on the small signal board. This is not an easy part to change and the repair should absolutely be handled by a tech experienced in Mitsubishi projection sets.
