Question about Denon AVR-2807 Receiver

1 Answer

Itunes assigned to CD stereo outputs to zone 1 but not zone 2

Apple airport express is connected to my denon AVR 2807 by optical cable and is assigned to the CD stereo function, it outputs fine to zone 1 (5.1 configuration) speakers but not to zone 2. I went through the process of assigning the surround back amp output to zone 2 according to the instructions on page 54 of the manual. When I switch to zone 2 display shows the CD source ,FL and FR on left side of display. I measured to the voltage at the zone 2 speakers terminals at 7.8 mV. Zone 2 peakers are plug into the surround back speakers terminals. Is there something different I need to do or maybe zone 2 does not like the signal from airport express.

Thank you
Ron

Problem solved, zone 2 only accepts an analog signal. I removed the optical cable from the airport express base station and replaced it with the monster analog cable from the airport express stereo connection kit that you can get from $39 at the apple store. ( Note: the optical and analog cables plug into the same output on the base station). I plugged the analog cable into the audio inputs on the Denon receiver into VCR1 but according to manual you can also use VCR2, and CDR/Tape functions.

Ron Digital audio will only reproduce in the surround area you will have to connect using analog connections in order to get that sound in the 2nd zone

No sound from Russound ss-4 after connecting to BACK surround speaker connections on the 2807.

Check the speaker setup configuration in the setup menu. Many times the surround back speaker terminals can be assigned to something else like zone 2. They may just be turned off.

Apple tv to optical audio on avr 1601

You need to assign the optical input to the video input you are using. It's under the 'Input Setup' menu.

Or use HDMI, it will output the audio thru the HDMI connection. Once again assign the input under the Input Setup menu (press the Menu button on remote to access setup menus)

How do I set my receiver to read TV/CBL Dolby Digital. It is a AVR 789

The Dolby digital signal is outputted only through the Optical or Coaxial socket of the CBL box. you will have to get an optic fiber or coaxial cable depending which cable box you have and connect it to the digital input of the Denon receiver. The Denon's digital input are already assigned at the back. Eg: Optic input might be labeled CD so if you are connecting the CBL box to the optic input remember to select CD on the Denon to hear the cable sound, same goes with the coaxial input.

How do I get audio from my tv to my receiver through an hdmi cable? AVR 2807

Your tv needs to have an HDMI out. If it has just connect that to the Denon. Tv might not have HDMI out so connect an optical cable from the tv's optical out to the Denon's optical in.

Can't get the sound to work on my TV using the Denon AVR-2807

In the 2807 the HDMI out is a video out only. Audio is not processed through the HDMI output.
If you are using speakers it is best to adjust the playback modes to stereo if you are annoyed with surround sound modes.
Please comment if I helped.

I have a denon avr-2807 receiver. on tv mode, i can only get analog signals. i am using an optical cable and the signal is only transmitted in digital. how can i correct this?

An optical cable is digital but its only audio not video. Are you connected to a cable or satellite box, are you using composit video, s-vid, component video, or hdmi? What kind of cable goes from your denon to your tv?

Which optical inputs should I use for (1) audio output from hi-def cable box (connected to HDTV with component cables) and (2) audio output from DVD (connected to 3805 with component cables?

Hi, the Optical and Coaxial inputs are assignable to whichever input you need them on. Plug the Optical cables from your DVD and HD cable box into any of the OPTICAL INPUTS (1 and 2 is fine, but write down your connections on paper)

You will then need to go into the setup of the AVR on the screen and assign the OPTICAL connections to the correct inputs (Probably TV/CAB and DVD.

Use the SYSTEM SETUP button on the factory remote, and you should see the on-screen menu appear on your TV. Go to INPUT ASSIGNMENT and choose the input for the DVD and assign OPTICAL 1 or 2...

** sound

You'll have to go into Setup and look at

1. Audio asignments. Are you using digital audio (optical cable) ? If so you may need to fix your assignments.
2. In Settings there also is an area to set up your HDMI output. Look there as well.

Loss of sound on the Denon AVR 2807 a/v surround receiver when I turn on and off lights in my house

Finally the problem was with the HDMI cable. When I pushed it in on the TV set the problem disappeared. It seems the connections must be quite firm on the HDMI cables otherwise anything may interfere to the sound.
