You most likely have interference from some source.  Try unplugging all cordless telephones in your house and see if that takes care of the problem.  Remember cordless telephones work on the same frequency as your wireless router.  If you find this is your problem you will need to refer to your routers documentation to find out how to change the channel.

Ask COMCAST for the names of their POP-server and of their MAIL-server, and configure Outlook Express to use those names.

Microsoft Live Mail is "web-based" -- all you need to do is to web-surf to their web-site, login, and click "send/receive" or click "compose" and later "send".

I have a wna1100v1 usb wireless adapter that is on my home pc and i need to access the internet via the belkin router my comp shows a possitive connection with signal strength of 75%. But i can't connect...

It could be a number of things. Most of them would be very hard to explain on this website. I will try to explain though.

*Make sure you installed the wna1100v1 drivers and software.
*Try restarting everything. Computer and router.
*Unplug router, wait a minute. Plug back in. Allow time for router to reestablish internet connection.

Hmm...there are a few others but they are a bit harder to explain.

Thanks.

My apartment receives its internet connection via ethernet from an external router. I had been using the Belkin F5D7231-4 as a wireless router (not configured as an access point) but recently it dropped...

You don't want to set a static IP address in your wireless router. You'll be connected to the network alright, but the IP address won't be recognized by the primary router. Thus, you'll see you're connected with only local access.

First and foremost, ensure that your Internet connection is valid. Plug the ethernet cable from the wall directly into your computer and test the connection. If you can't get it to work, then the problem is not on your end. Contact the agency in charge of the external router (e.g. apartment maintenance).

If your connection is fine hard wired, you may have bad data or a faulty configuration in your wireless router. I suggest doing a complete hard reset (there should be some instructions with your router on how to do it--some have a small flush mounted button that you have to press for a few seconds). Set up your wireless router as if for the first time. This should take care of your problems.

Slow internet on 1 computer

download atf cleaner to the desktop of the slow computer. open it , check the box that says "select all" then click on "clean selected". the first time you run this, it may take a few minutes. this program empties all the junk internet explorer saves, which reduces bandwidth issues. I run mine everytime i get off the internet. after the first run, it runs much quicker, and always run it twice or until you get the message "no files were removed" if you can't get to this point, you should run your virus scanner in safe mode. if your getting fast internet on the other three computers , it's not your provider, it's something between your router and your monitor, usually trash your web browser is trying to update while you are trying to surf. www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1

run this program , post again here if you need further assistance..

My Belkin 4 port router has the same IP as my Modem so my router will not detect my DSL connection. Ive asked Belkin for help but all they send me is gobblygoop!

Hi!
I'm sorry to hear that Belkin did not help you with your problem. Let me help you with your concern instead.

Here's what we need to do:

Start by resetting the router to factory default - you just need to press and hold the rest button on the router for about 30 seconds (with the power on).

1.) Disconnect the Belkin router from your modem , connect a PC to the router (use the LAN port - either port 1 to 4).

2.) Open Internet browser - clear the address bar and type in http://192.168.2.1 , press enter. It will ask you for a password , do not type anything just press Submit. You should be able to access the router's web interface.

The router's web interface should like this (depending on the model #):

92853d1.jpg

3.) Go to LAN settings. Change the router's IP address to 10.10.10.1 (this will be the new IP address of your router) . Apply the changes. Once youapply the changes, you can access the router using the new IP - http://10.10.10.1.

4.) Reconnect your modem - router and computers. Reboot device by switching off the modem , router and PC.

5.) Power up the modem first. Wait for about 2 minutes, power up the router and restart your PC.

The steps I gave is applicable if your modem is not on bridge mode. If your modem is on bridge mode (meaning it requires a username and password from your ISP) - access again the router by going to http://10.10.10.1 and do the following:

Click Internet WAN > Connection Type and select PPPOE. Type the username and password from your ISP. Apply the settings. Reboot the modem and router.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!

Try unplugging the router and the cable/dsl modem if you have one. Wait 10 seconds and then plug the modem in. Wait a minute for the modem to boot back up and then plug the power to the router back in. Wait a little for the router to boot up and then reboot your computer.

On and off at what rate? Every few seconds? Every few hours?

Does it cause the internet light on the modem to go off, or just the internet connection in the computer?

If you're using it wirelessly, what adapter in the computer? How far is the computer from the router?

(The router should work with any broadband modem.)

That seems to be a normal result (Lack of intenet access) if you are pulling down torrents if your router is configured as DHCP. UTorrent recommends static IP addressing to optimise the application.

You can restore your connectivity by closing the uTorrent application by right-clicking the icon in the taskbar and exiting the program completely.
