I have 65" Mits. lamp lasted about 2+ years and burned out. bought new on internet, that lasted about 5 months and went. Got free replacement and that lasted about 4 months. No more free replacements ...
Bought new from different source and it burned out in a week.
Note: These were ALL OSRAM original lamps from reputable suppliers.
They sent a new one but also cautioned about cleaning the "filter" on the lamp housing. NOT the large screens on either side, but the small rectangular one (about 3/4" x 2"). I did this with a shop vac pulling and pushing from every angle and it was really clogged almost solid. No way air was going across the bulb to cool it.
THIS IS CRUCIAL and I feel is the keys to the kingdom! I did this and voila - no more "plastic smell" when installing the new lamp and everything's great!
I feel that Mits should be held accountable for this for not recommending the lamp housing be cleaned periodically (maybe yearly). I really feel if this were done with my original one it would have last a lot longer.

Hello John: If you replace the DLP lamp out of your Zenith or LG, you will need to reset the counter...otherwise you may get an annoying reminder every few days if you're surpassed the predetermined hour mark.
Ensure the TV is powered on.
1) Press and HOLD the MENU button on the TV 2) Press and HOLD the MENU button on your REMOTE (hold both these until the service menu pops up 5-10 secs max.) 3) Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV 4) Press and HOLD the ENTER (or OK) button on the TV 5) Press and HOLD the MUTE button on the REMOTE (hold both until the LAMP LIFE HOURS appears on the screen) 6) Let go of the REMOTE button first, then release the button on the TV We suggest writing your lamp hours on a piece of masking tape and taping it to the back the TV for future reference. 7) To reset the lamp counter, press SELECT (or the button in the middle of the direction arrow buttons). Hit SELECT a second time to confirm clearing the lamp counter
For certain models, you might have to tweak these steps slightly...
I can try to help you but it sounds like we`ll have to get to the power supply inside of it.
Since you have a multimeter it might be a plus.
If you are up to it let me know and we`ll check for some bad capacitors,
Also could you confirm that your model# is 26av502 ?

There could be a problem eminating from the set that is causing the lamp to burn out quickly, however I am guessing the new lamp should be under warranty so I would probably go down that route.
The bulbs are very sensitive so if the tv has taken a knock this may also have cuased the problem.
If the bulb isn't under warranty a replacement set would probably be better given the high cost of the bulbs.
You broke it.
The biggest mistake people make after spilling liquids onto electronic devices is to try and turn it on to see if it still works. You should remove the battery and not try to turn on a device until it has had several days of dry warm air around it to ensure all moisture is removed from the electronic parts.
I would guess that if you spilled juice on it and it will now not turn on or respond in any way that unit will need to be returned to the manufacturer for repair. Even if it is in warranty they will know it has been "misused" and not honor the warranty. The HDD should be ok but most likely a PCB has died.
You could try the accidental damage cover of your household insurance.
I have the same problem with my dvr. I went to tech support at sony. The tech spent a lot of time researching the problem. I had to leave so I told him to email me when he had some information. It's been 3 days now and I havent heard from him yet.
