Question about LG KU990 Viewty
I have a problem that has just occured recently - I can play my mp3 files no problem, but when I try to set an mp3 tone as my ringtone or message tone, specifically from my profile, regardless of which file i choose, i get a message of 'invalid file'.
If I try to set the mp3 file as a message or ringtone from the music file itself, it confirms ringtone changed, but it doesn;t work....a generic handset tone overrides it.
I had the same problem but fixed it by transferring the desired mp3 file to the phone memory instead of the memory card. Apparently some mp3 files saved on my 4G memory card, although they worked with the music player, could not be used as ringtones (Invalid file error). This may be one problem with using a 4G card on the Viewty.

Ive had my viewty for just 2 mnths it was workin fine then 2 wks ago i started to have problems with the default tone overidin the customised tone, tried everything under the sun to sort it,including both the solutions above but still no joy so took it back to where i bought it n they sent it away to be flashed (which apparently means erase all software n av it reinstalled)got my veiwty back n the problem still remains so the bloke in the shop bluetoothed me a mp3 file from his phone n it worked, so we have now figured out the the mp3 files u want to use as a ringtone have to be on the phone memory not the external memory..we are not sure why the phone has gone like this as it was workin fine for nearly 2mths,but least now i dont have to be embarassed by the default tones...

Go to phone setting then memory manager then primary storage settings then select the handset memory as primary storage then select the mp3 file from your memory card or music player and use it as voice call and that's it and yeah it **** if that the only way u can get your mp3 file to work as your ring tone

Wow , that sound like a tough one, it has never happened in my phone, must be that you have some faulty settings. Well what i would do is try to make a back up of my contacts on my sim card so that i can reset the phone back to factory settings. So if you want to try this, when you are ready just go to
Menu > Phone Settings > Reset Settings.
This will bring your phone back to factory settings and hopefully fixes the problem, i know i would hate if mine does that. Let me know if that works, I will be doing some more research and update you of anymore findings if possible.
