What would cause incomplete combustion on burners and oven?

I have a Maytag model MGR577OBDQ using propane. The odor is strong when the oven is on and smells like incomplete combustion.

Look at oven burners while they are lit. Is the flame coming from all of the holes. If not, see if the piolet or glow coil of ignitor is close enough to that side to make them light. Also make sure holes are not dirty (opened). The flame should be blue with just the tip red . If not adjust the air door to get more air and less gas. Their is also a gas ajustment on the oven gas valve on most. If the flame is jumping out of the hole, too much gas is coming through and you need to adjust the screw to get less gas flow. I hope I understood correctly and this is information that you need.

it sounds as if you accidentally removed an orifice from one or more of the lines these are very common in use for gas ranges (esp older ones) ck your old lines to see them

My mother has a hotpoint gas stove and when baking the oven has produced a lot of black carbon all over the oven...also the burners seem to be doing this also

the pores of the burner have been blocked by some food particles or the pores have not been cleaned since longtime,so try to remove the blockage thats creating fumes of the carbon and also try to maintain the time and temprature depending on the food u make or bake.this may help to prevent such problems in future. wish u success.

We just converted a brand new natural gas kenmore range to propane and followed the instructions to a tee doing it. The burners are fine and work great, no smell. When the oven is started it smells li

On the pressure regulator there is a small cap this turns or unscrews and inside there is a part that has to turned around to convert to propane. They are fairly easy to do. Access to the regulator is usually the hardest part. If this is not done the pressure to the burner will not be correct and you will not get completed combustion of the gas. This could cause Carbon Monoxide issues and soot build up.

The flames from the front left burner is 1/3 orange and 2/3 blue; whereas the flames from the other burners are all blue. There is a strong odour from the front left burner when we turn it on and also the...

The flames should be all blue - except when you first turn it on, where the flame begins, & only when you turn it on. Orange flames mean incomplete combustion is happening. Carbon monoxide is being released. Orange flames can also mean your getting low on gas. Clean it & try moving the disk around. An uneven disc means some flames will be higher & burn your pots. The flames are wrapping around your pots if they're burning on the sides. Keep flames under the pot. Regardless of the being clean, the odor means you need to check your gas level. Once filled back, the odor should be gone if that's the only problem. That is placed in the gas as a safety feature. Don't try to fix this problem yourself if the "easy" solutions don't work. It could be very dangerous. Invest in a carbon monoxide detector especially when you have anything gas.

the ignitor is bad, the ignitor opens the valve when there is enough amperage. the ignitor isn't pulling enough to fully open it

Kenmore twin burner.. orange flames

A temporary orange flame from your gas stove can also occur at peak usage times. An increase in local demand can cause a decrease in pressure in the natural gas line. If all of your gas appliances are in combustion simultaneously, this may also cause a drop in pressure, especially in older houses. If the problem persists, it is likely a dirty/clogged burner or the stove needs servicing. In general, an orange flame (on a gas combustion appliance) means incomplete combustion and carbon monoxide production.

What could be wrong with a gas stove hot point(2 yrs old)that has lots of black in the oven when using and also black on bottoms of pans when using burners on top? it just started doing this...

The flame is 'yellow tipping'. This means there is incomplete combustion and will leave black soot on everything. Did you recently start using propane? If so the stove will need to be converted to propane use, or the incoming gas pressure is too high. You may need a gas professional to check the gas pressure.
