if you're certain your internet connection is good then you could try these. go to control panel and open the internet options and delete the browsing history including temporary internet files. if that doesn't work then go to the advanced tab in internet options and reset the settings to their default. if that doesn't work then try the connections tab in internet options, click the lan settings and make sure it's on automatically detect settings or nothing.
Check to see if you have internet connection with other laptop or devices, secondly does internet work for other programs that uses internet like msn messenger. If it does work for other program and it's your browser that doesn't display then we got a proxy error issue. Other then that, it could firewall settings that is blocking you... But with the proxy issue, Open up the internet explorer, click the "Tools" bar on the top right side. Scroll down to "internet option", a window will pop up, go to the "connections" tab, click that, go down to "Lan setting" a window should pop up, set you automatic configuration to "automatic detection" If already is set, and you still get nothing.... try to see if internet explorer would work with another wifi network such as those public free wifi area. If that works, then your router setting has to be corrected in the router application. Could be a parental or client block.
open internet explorer click on tools then goto internet options
then click the advanced tab go down to the reset button and reset internet explorer to the defaults.
then after that is completed close internet explorer and reopen internet explorer and see if the web page comes up.
This happened to me once but only after i did an internet explorer update to internet explorer 8. So i restored my computer to the day before the IE8 update and internet works fine... dont know if you recently updated your internet but if so try going back to before the update

check the enryption on the router(modem) and the computer. both need to be the same. The icon is telling you it is connected (signal wise). but there is no authentication between the computer and the modem.
