Belt came of dyer where does it go

Most maytag dryers you cannot work from the back side. The old style dryer is accesed by removing phillips screws at the base of the dryer. The newer models use a putty knife to realease the top. Some models called slopefronts you remove the door and then the front to get to the innards.
I have a page on maytag dryers which features videos and service manuals. MAYTAG DRYER PAGE

Dryer is about 5 years old. Has begun to squeak loudly when clothes begin to spin

Are you comfortable taking the dyer apart? There are just a few simple screws to remove. It sounds like a bad blower wheel. If you follow the link you should be able to trouble shoot the issue.

Dyer won't come on

check the door switch. with the door open push the lever for the door switch. do you hear a faint click? if not you've found your problem. is the lever even there? if not you've found your problem. if both are o.k. lift the top of the dryer. you should see the switch mounted inside the front panel. remove both wires from the switch & put them together. make sure the wire ends are not touching anything. put the top down, close the door & try to start it. did it start? if yes, replace the switch. let me know if this helps

Jesse, does the door light come on? If not check the thermal fuse. You will have to open the top by pushing in on the two clips on each side. In back, on the right side of the heater you will see a thermostat and about 4 inches below the thermal fuse. Look at number 5 in the attachment. Makes sure to kill the power before going back there. You can either jump it out or ohm it out to make sure that is the problem. Part number for the fuse is LA1053.. back
