    yes we do.

  • tonkasl24 Dec 14, 2008

Well I can't see it if it is glowing . I have looked over the unite and can not see anything . It seems to be inside this box area. but it is a direct spark type igniter. the unit is about 15 yrs old. I do not have a meter either.

ok we just took it apart and it is not getting a spark at all ..!

  • tonkasl24 Dec 15, 2008

    Is this a lennox pulse?

  • Ken Bledsoe May 11, 2010

Now that you got a spark and no gas that's not good, gas valve could be bad. You will have to get a techie to come out and check. If you had a meter we could test it and determine it's fate. Ken

The draft fan is a safety device that has to be satisfied before the spark happens. Be sure the vacuum hose is tight on the pressure switch. And tight on the draft fan. I'm suspecting the ignitor is bad. Being 15 years old and has worked perfectly up until now. Ignitor comes from the board or some device that tells it to spark.

I guess I should have asked you is it spark or hot surface. My unit is about 4 years old and I have a sparker that lights the pilot light which in turn lights the burners.

  • Ken Bledsoe May 11, 2010

The next step would be the hot surface ignitor should start to glow how about that. And if it doesn't glow do you have volt ohm meter?

do you hear a pre fan

SOURCE: Unit will not blow cold air after starting up for first time this season

you may need to remove the rear cover to examine what is and is not running. once you remove the back, start up the unit on a workbench. see if the fan is running and the compressor has kicked in. look at the larger or two tubes coming out of the compressor. if it is cooling a small layer of frost or condensation will appear on this " suction" line. if this tubing and the other one are approx the same temperature, then there is a freon leak in the system. Only an EPA certified technician can fill your unit. I am not familiar with that RED button but it mat be a reset of some sort. With the back removed see how it is connected in the wiring circuit. if you have the wiring diagram, please send it to me under my regular email address and I'll walk you through the troubleshooting procedure.

water should never reach the nipple for the pressure switch tubing on the IDM. Check the entire condensate drain system for obstructions. Verify water makes it from the furnace location to the outside drain. Flush p-traps and any anti-siphon devices thoroughly.

SOURCE: lennox air unit not blowing cold air

your fan motor outside is going bad, have a service company change it out for you.

the motor stopped working and that overheated the compressor shutting it down on thermal cutout, and it will only come on once it cools down

SOURCE: Will not cool properly.

You have either a faulty thermostat, dirty condenser and evaporator or a faulty run capacitor. Need to service soon before the compressor is damaged. Sea Breeze

You can check your float switch, power to both the air handler and outside condensing unit and ensure power is present, also check control voltage from transformer ensure 24Volts on secondary side. If you are not comfortable around electricity though I recommend you call your A/C Contractor for safety reasons.

Further information would be needed to further diagnose your problem.

I have a Goodman gas furnance. The furmance kicks on the glow rod lights and then the furnance shuts down after about 60 seconds it goes through the same cycle. The burners never come on. What's wrong?

Gas valve is not kicking in or gas shut offs are off. Can you check voltage where 2 wires connect to gas valve. Can you see blinking lights thru lower door window and count blinks. Code sticker should be on inside of lower door.

RUUD Air Conditioner not turning on

Need to check the breaker to the unit at the electrical breaker box. You should have a dual 60 amp breaker that runs the unit. Also if you removed the front of the furnance on the inside the system will not work unless the front of the furnance is on. There is a safety switch that will not allow the system to run with the door off. There could be the problem if the breaker is on and electricity is supplied to the unit that switch may be out and need replacing. The furnance is operated on 110 volts the condensor (outside section) operates on 240v you need to insure that the proper voltage is supplied to both.
Since both units work together yet operate seperately if the furnance comes on and the condensor doesn't then there is an electrical problem at the condensor (more than likely the contactor switch) if the condensor comes on and not the furnance then there to is an electrical problem (either 110 volts not supplied) or the switch to the safety cut off is bad. Now if neither furnance nor condensor comes on there could be improper power to both or a bad thermostat since the thermostat activates both furnance and condensor. Good Luck on repairs

Central air does not kick in.

It sounds like you have a bad capacitor to the compressor. The humming noise is the compressor not starting up but is trying. It is either the capacitor or the compressor form your description. If you had a lightning storm or power surge about the time this happened it is most likely a bad capacitor. You can have the capacitor tested to see. Disconnect power before working on unit!

Furnance not starting

Try cleaning the flame sensor. Its the most common problem on todays furances. You should clean it with a fine grit sandpaper or emery cloth once a year.
