Needs a new capacitor

Thanks. Talked to a buddy last night and turned the unit on and used a stick to kick-start the fan and it took off. Compressor didn't though. I think you're right, not enough voltage / current output coming out of the capacitor to get the unit going.

Capacitors are pretty cheap you can get a new for about $7 just make sure that th voltage and microfards are exactly the same the micrfards can be higher but not lower than the one currently on your unit. If your compressor still doesn't come on after you replace the capacitor try a hard start.

Its a charge that unbinds your compressor it connects to the capacitor

SOURCE: air conditioner

I managed to find the people who supplied the unit, it was still under warranty, and they said it was the thermistors (temprature probes, they replaced both of them) It is now working perfectly!

SOURCE: Sharp Air Conditioner. Model

If you set you r AC to FAN mode the unit will not cool, it only runs in the indoor but the outdoor will off. If you set to AUTO the unit will cool but the indoor blower will automatically run slower when the room is cool or attain the room temp. setting. If you set it to COOL the fan speed is fix depending on your setting and it also operate in cool.

Have you checked the freon level in this unit? If you are low or there is a leak it could be the problem. Hope this helps.

Fan won't run / won't cool

It may have a faulty compressor relay or overload, best to change both at the same time. It's either that or a bad compressor.

My condensor fan and compressor on my Carrier AC (Model# 38ckc036350) stopped working, so I replaced my capacitor and they both work fine now. The problem is my house won't cool down. There is c

Often after a repair has been made, the air conditioner will take hours to readjust back to normal. When the system has been off for to long, not only does the heat in the house rise, but so does the humidity, which has to be pulled out of the air first before it really starts dropping in temp. You could have a low charge on refrigerant, dirty filters, etc. More than once I have ran into things that were just coincidence after a repair that showed up. Since you just replaced the capacitor, I would make sure the fan motor is turning in the right direction and there is nice air flow coming out of the condenser, some times if one wire is wrong, it can cause it to spin backwards, which will work, but just barely. The air needs to be pulled through the coils, not pushed. Hope this helps!

You need to check the wiring to the limits and safety devices with are in a number of locations, make sure all connections are tight. The most common cause for the blower to run is the high limit device which is the one mounted above the burners on the flat metal panel with two wires.
