Question about Frigidaire GLEQ2152ES Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Squeaky dryer Our Frigidaire dryer squeaks when it is on. We thought it might be the belt, but that seems to be ok. Any ideas? P.S. We bought this dryer used, so we don't know if it has had this problem for a long time.

The tub rides on a ball in the rear center. The ball sits in a plastic bearing with a metal mount. When the plastic wears down the bearing begins to rub the metal mount. WARNING: procrastination can cause this metal mount to eat into the ball and litterally cut it off causing the drum to fall into the heating element. To repair simply pop the top using a putty knife, remove the front and take the idler loose from a small hatch in the rear. Use the belt to help you get the drum out the front. NOTE. the kit comes with everything needed to make the repairs. If you are frugal the bearing it sold seperately. squeaky dryer - cd5464b.jpg

I have a squeaky dryer

You have a belt that goes around the barrell and the belt has a tension pulley on a tension arm. Those pulleys go bad. It is an easy fix. It takes longer to get to the pulley than to fix it. It is a 4 minute fix, but it will take a while to take off the housing to get there.

How do I fix a squeaky belt on a minivan?

Post question is automotive section?

Is belt squealing? or is there a squeaky noise?

Squealing would denote belt slippage... belt might be loose, apply more belt tension at idler pulley (if possible). Consider trying a spray-on 'anti-slip" compound.

Squeaky noise could mean a bad pulley bearing.

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that the dryer is squeaky on your Frigidaire laundry center, model# FEX831FS0. There could be numerous possibilities causing the squeaking sound in your appliance. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They should be able to diagnose your dryer and determine what is causing the squeaking sound. Hope this is helpful.

Very squeaky guessing it may be a belt! also it does not shut off automatically when the clothes are dry. I thought that was a feature of this dryer. Bought it used 2 years ago.

My dryer makes terrible noise when tumbling. It is a loud squeaking noise. Is it a belt that needs to be replaced?

Loud squeaky noises are usually a dry bearing--in this case, probably the one(s) that hold up the front of the drum. Open the top to inspect, then remove the front panel to replace or repair. Hope this helps!

Squeaky drum

This is going to be the idler pulley, Belt or the rear bearing. To check the belt and idler pulley remove the small inspection cover on the back you will seeit there turn on dryer and see if that is it. If not you will need to disassemble to get to the rear bearing. There are videos on replacing the belt and idler pulley at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html and also you can enter your model # for a diagram.
