Surround Sound How do I set up Curtis dvd 6041 home theater to get surround sound out of my tv. I see the curtis has a digital coax output. Is it as simple as hooking that up to my tv digital coax? Or will that hurt it? What do you recomend?

try running the optical cable from your dvd directly to your tv and then select whichever input (eg HDMI 1/2 etc) you use to play the xbox on..In theory this setup should allow any audio playing on the tv to go through the surround sound..hope it works

The speakers should not be a problem. All the sockets are labeled left / center / right / left surround / right surround and subwoofer.
Connect the yellow composite video out to the TV's yellow composite video in . Along with video out of the Curtis you can connect two red and white audio out to the TV's audio in socket.

Yes. I believe this one accepts a coax cord.

select tv input on ur theater system. u can hear audio fro the frond left and right speakers. if u want to hear the audio from the surround speakers, then press the A-MODE button on ur remote to select different type of sound modes. press again and again to select different sound field. select one which suits u.

Speaking direct to the manufacturer it turns out that the intended use for the optical socket is to allow connection to other video devices and not for the connection of other audio signals. In short, you cannot use the optical socket to allow 5.1 surround sound from any other device as it is OUTPUT only.

Seems crazy I know but that's what the manufacturer told me.

you need to plug rca cables into the audio out of your tv providing it has them then go to the setting menu in the tv go into the sound options and turn on surround sound

Well from what I have found in trying to get this problem figured out is that it is a common problem with Curtis Home Theatre Systems; not just your model 6041. Here is a POSSIBLE solution:

To reset the video output on your DVD, follow these instruction. Connect to standard composite connection (yellow video input on TV and yellow video output on DVD). Remove any DVD's from the unit. Turn the unit off, wait 10 seconds and then turn it on again. Using the remote, press SETUP, then RIGHT ARROW button 4 times. Press Enter. Then DOWN ARROW button 3 times. Press Enter.
That is for your 6041. For what I have discovered elsewhere it may or may Not cure the problem. Give it a try and let me know one way or the other.

we had to hook sound cables from DVD player into digital cable box, not tv and now surround works in tv mode as well as dvd.

can it hook up to the cable and have the sound can out the speaker when wacth tv . so one can here it with not be so loud for the for any oneself,in the roon with then .
