No fuel 92 ranger running until i changed fuel filter. now has no fuel from fuel pump, pump will not come on at all. checked fuel pump shut off switch,it is OK
You may have put the filter on backwards. If you did I might have ruined the fuel pump. Whether or not you did, test the wires that run to the pump. If they are getting power, you need to replace the pump. If not, start checking fuses and relays.

Does it start back up right away or do you have to wait 15 - 20 min. ? What engine does it have , fuel injection , carburetor , electric fuel pump . ANY flashy code's . Did you do any testing ? Check for vacuum leaks , do you know how to do this ? Video's on youtube. Test electrical systems an circuit's . Is the alternator charging (working) ? This problem could be caused by any number of thing's , an some body without proper diagnostic skill's isn't going to fix it . Maybe your best bet mite be to have a repair shop diagnose it for you .
You need to check fuel pump relay. Usually located under hood and I believe pass side fender well. That's odd for pump to run all the time unless relay has stuck on or has been jumped to run. (By that I mean someone has wired in run position) the computer usually grounds relay to turn on fuel pump
Good fuel pressure from the pump is fine, at the pump. But if it can't flow constantly it WILL shut down. Have you though about changing the fuel filter? even a dirty fuel filter will allow enough fuel to the engine to allow it to run for a few seconds or so. When that little bit is gone, can't get enough to still run.
the fuel pump relay contacts may have fused together, remove the relay and see if it stops, if it nuns for10 minutes then stops points to fuel fault, replace the filter then check pressure and flow. if the pressure is low check the fuel regulator and pump.
Check to be sure you are getting fuel to the fuel rail. The fuel filter could be stopped up. Also I would check the nertia switch to be sure it has gotten turned off. This switch is the fuel shut off switch.
I would have the vehicle run on a scanner to get the cause of the check engine light. Ford used the fuel shut off switch. The owners manual should show you the location and how to reset it if it tripped.
nothing really except sometimes your fuel lines. you should have replaced the fuel filter when you replaced the pump so your pump lasts a lil longer. a clogged filter overloads the pump
