firstly if you
get the 3 red lights then Microsoft repair your console for free so long as you
purchased it no more than 3 years before you send it back for repair. The 3 red
lights are a sign of overheating, and to go into more detail this is what
The 360 had a manufacturing fault or air vents
were covered and so the 360 overheated, and got so hot that the solder balls on
the cpu or gpu chip melted, and due to the fact the the 360 motherboard is able
to flex a little, when the 360 was turned off and cooled down these solder
balls solidified again, however they solidified in the wrong place or in two half's
etc. and so the 360 shows the 3 red lights to indicate this fault.

a loose av cable can cause the 4 red light problem, so first off check that your av cable is plugged into your console properly.. if that doesnt work than it could be a more serious overheating problem so just leave it off for a while then try again. if its still happening then the safest way to fix that besides sending it back to microsoft is investing in a repair guide. hope this helps
Are you sure you are talking about the Original Xbox? Please make sure your posts are in the correct cateigory for easy finding and therefore better solutions by xbox 360 experts ;)
If you mean Xbox 360 instead of original xbox then refer to below.
DO NOT OPEN YOUR XBOX 360 CONSOLE! Microsoft will fix it for free with free shipping. Takes about 2 weeks. There is videos and different ways to fix it online but it will happen again with those half baked solutions. With those solutions the xbox will work sometimes 1 week and sometimes 6 months but the console will break again. Also for an incentive for you, Microsoft adds another year to your consoles warranty and a card to a free month of xbox live.
THIS IS LINKED with the 3 red lights, or the red ring of death, so as long as its not 3 years old, Microsoft will repair it in the 3 year extended warranty, so head to xbox.com/support and get a repair, should take about 1-2 weeks.
set your ps3 on standby mode(solid red light), then just hold the power until the screen turns on. if the system turns off, try again. keep on trying until it works. it should beep 3 times to signal that it's on, then 1 more time to signal you did it right.
Check the light on the power supply and if its orange that means that the console is on stand by mode, The light on the Power brick should be green when the console turns on. if the light turns red that means that the power supply needs to be replaced. call xbox support and check the warranty status of your 360
It might be Red ring of Death problem, You can either send your Xbox
toMicrosoft and wait for 2-3 weeks till you get back your Xbox or you
canfix the problem yourself with the help of a DIY fix guide. Check out the post discussing about RROD problem here: http://www.fix-xbox360.info/2008/08/23/xbox-360-red-light-fix/ Hope it helps...
The fan sounds like it is malfunctioning. Two red lights mean the 360 is overheating. I suggest you don't turn on the 360 until you get the fan replaced as this may damage your 360 more and lead to more problems with the motherboard. If its under warranty then you should get it fixed for free but if not then you might have to pay.
