Question about Denon AVR-1908

Power Button Flashing Red

Unit kicked of and power button flashed red while watching/listening to Music DVD--admittedly at a high volume level. Allowed to cool down over night. Just tried powering up again (14 hours later)--power button shows green, appears to be starting up and then shuts off and begins flashing red. Happens every time. Please advise if you have any ideas short of contacting Denon tomorrow. Thanks. Flashing red light that keeps shutting down the system, Can't get it to stay on

Try unplugging the entire unit and letting it sit for 5 minutes. See if this helps. If not, you need to do a complete reboot, which will cause you to lose your settings, but will probably solve your problem. To do a complete reboot, you will need to hold down two of the front bottons on the front panel. I'm not sure which, so either consult your manual or see other posts here which describe the reboot process for Denons. Hope this helps.

No power output or display.green standby light flashes.

Sounds like either a blown mainpower fuse or the thermal fuse for the power transformer. If the protect circuit was kicking in, the display would light up, but then turn off with a red blinking light. the green light with no display means the transformer is not getting power.

Kenwood VR 605 power light flashes

CHECK FOR CLEARED COOLING VENTS & FOR PROPERLY WORKING COOLING FANS. THIS WILL CAUSE SHUTDOWN OF THE UNIT. IF ITS ALL CLEAR, YOU PROBABLY HAVE A POWER SUPPLY ISSUE.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot if the word PROTECT or PROTECTOR is flashing on the A/V receivers display.

  1. Check the speaker wires and speakers for proper connections.
  2. Reduce the volume level. IMPORTANT: If the receiver is played back at maximum volume level it may enter the protect mode. Maximum volume listening will cause the receiver to run very hot and may drain the output capacitors.
  3. Disable the surround sound option if both the A and B speakers are being used simultaneously.
  4. Ensure the top of the receiver has proper ventilation to keep it from overheating.
  5. If the message only occurs when using a DVD player, the sampling frequency may be set too high. IMPORTANT: Some receivers provide compatibility with the higher sampling frequencies through alternate connections. Consult the owners manual for specific information.
  6. Unplug the AC power cord for about 1 to 2 hours to reset the output transformers.
If the issue is still unresolved, service may be required.

Trying to synch my remote to the new tvee model 25 sound bar and can't get the orange lights.

I had this same problem and it was due to their instructions which do not adequately explain the setup procedure.

On my own, I was successful in programming volume up but that was all. I assumed that for volume down I would hold the power button and the VOLUME DOWN button and wait for the flashing light just as I had for volume up. Problem is, you never get a flashing light.

Today, I spoke with a rep from Boston Acoustics who patiently explained that step one of the instructions has to be done the same way each time as it is the step that puts the soundbar into programming mode.

It is only at step 2 that things change.

The solution is to hold the power button and the Volume Up button every time in order to get the system into programming mode. Once the light is flashing, in order to program Volume Down, you then hold the Volume Down button until the light goes solid. Once the light goes solid, then press the volume down button on your remote 4 times slowly. Works like a charm.

Works the same way to program the mute button. Follow step one to get the unit in programming mode. Once the light is flashing, hold down only the mute button until the light goes solid. When the light goes solid, press the mute button slowly 4 times.

OBTW, this was programmed with a Logitech Harmony 650 remote unit.

Unit only stays on for 4 seconds then turns itself off.

This is a short or unstable ohm load. Remove all speaker wire connections to see if the amp will stay on.
If the problem goes away when disconnecting the speaker wires try this:
1) Check volume level on zone one and zone 2 if connected. If it is too high the amp will go into protect mode and shut off exactly as you described.
2) Make sure no wires are touching any other wire or the metal surface of the amp. This will cause a short and send the amp into protect mode.

Power Button Flashing Red

Check to make sure the +/- speaker output wires aren't touching. I've had this problem before with frayed speaker wire strands poking out & intermittently shorting to the other polarity speaker output. This amazing receiver actually continued to play at low volume levels, but if I turned it up it would shut down similar to how you are reporting. I cleaned up the frayed wires & this fixed thr problem. Good luck

Power on problem

Time for a little repair here. It seems that one or more channels have developed an excessive drain on the supply, and has caused the threshold to trip and shut you down. It's more than likely shop time at this point....accordianman
