Help please. can't print: paper light flashing even though there is paper in printer

Printer can not print using automatic paper feeder. The status light is on and the paper light is flashing. There is paper loaded and I have pressed the GO button but still no joy. It prints using the manual feed. Any help will be very much appreciated. many thanks

My printer has stopped printing too. Status light is on, and paper light is flashing. I have checked everywhere for a paper jam, and have found nothing. Printer will print using manual feed. I've checked the tray settings, and everything seems fine. Any ideas? Are these things only made to last 1 year? What a waste...

To fix the NON EXISTANT paper jam:

Status light is on, paper light is on - you can hear the paper feed trying to "grab" the paper, but it can't,  and status light goes Red.

Take out paper tray

Reset the blue paper holders, move them tight against the paper so the paper is snug against all blue barriers. Cause: Somehow the blue paper holders got dislodged and the paper is not snug so the feeder is trying to grab paper that  is slightly out of reach.

I had a jam in my machine before the paper made it into the exit area on the top. It was hard to pull out and I almost tore the paper. After that the Status light was red and the Paper light was blinking and the machine would not print. It was only after I opened the back, pulled down both little blue leavers next to the inner walls, then pushed them back up into their original position, and then closed the back cover did the machine cycle back into ready mode with the Status light green. The next day at work when I was talking to the copier/printer guy I found out that anytime there is a jam that’s hard to pull out on this type of printer, pull those two blue levers down before you remove the paper and it will be easier to get out. Also, these machines must require this action so that the machine knows that the paper was properly removed. Works for me.

Perhaps the word processor is set to Manual Feed, instead of "Tray" or automatic. If this is a document in the setting, the printer will wait for the manually fed paper, no matter how many times you press "go."

It won't print and the light keeps flashing. I lost the instructions!

The flashing light could indicate either a communication problem between one of your cartridges and the printer, a short in one of the cartridges, paper jam or the cartridge carrier has stalled. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:

  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder. Make sure there are no foreign objects or debris in the feeder.
  2. Open the printer cover and remove both the cartridges.
  3. While the cover is open, ensure there are no paper jams and the cartridge carrier is free from obstructions.
  4. Close the printer cover.
  5. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.
  7. Close the printer cover and check the light status.
  8. If light on printer is normal, open the printer cover and reinsert the other cartridge. Check the light status.
  9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the light to flash with a new cartridge. You can also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.
  10. Load some paper. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
