Question about HP Wireless Optical Mouse

1 Answer

Mouse switch off

When the mouse is not being used the light continues to shine, sometimes with reduced power.   In consequence, the batteries are running down rather quickly

On most mice, you cannot shut the power off to them without removing the batteries and they will run down rather quickly. There is really nothing you can do unless you buy a mouse with a shutoff switch like my Logitech or use rechargeable batteries or just shut the computer down. Sorry.

Why are the batery powerlight not shining green on microsoft wireless keyboard 3050. Don't find a on off button.

I don't think there is a power button on the keyboard. It is probably due to the batteries being dead or very low. Change them and you should be fine.

How to Install a bluetrack mouse On G580

It shipped with some software. Install the drivers on the medium, then look for an update. Use Windows Update. To use it you plug the receiver in a USB port then you flip the switch at the bottom of the mouse (containing fresh batteries). The light at the top of the mouse will shine green if batteries are still good.

Mouse rotates all over page. won't stay sill

Gay:
I gather that this is an optical mouse... Take a can of dustoff (canned air) and blow into the hole where the light shines out at the bottom of the mouse. Make sure you hold the can of dustoff straight up and down and don't let the liquid spray into the mouse. Change or clean the mouse pad (sometimes that works). You might try to reload the mouse driver as a last resort.

My Dynex wired mouse, when plugged in, works but the red "laser" light on the bottom blinks like a really fast strobe light..making my mouse pointer jump around on the screen instead of moving...

My laser mouse flashes too and it works just fine. I'm not certain, yours may be different than mine and maybe it's not supposed to flash on and off, but try cleaning the bottom where the light shines out using a damp soft cloth. Also try using a mouse pad with it... sometimes it may help.
If not, your mouse may be defective. Try exchanging it at the store where you bought it from.

Wireless keyboard and mouse not working, battery in receiver?

The receiver should not have a battery. It gets its power from the USB port. Try uninstalling both keyboard and mouse via (Control Panel...Device Manager) and reinstalling them. Sometimes the drivers get corrupted and reinstalling them will fix that. Also there are on/off switches on the mouse and maybe the keyboard. Check that someone hasn't turned them off to save batteries when not in use.

Flashing light

It depends on the mouse. Sometimes the red light flashes to signify the processing of a command. If it is continually flashing, then you may want to replace the battery.

HP 3 button optical wireless mouse

It is normal because the mouse is still picking up the "stand by" power of the motherboard.
It will very very slowly trickle away any charge you have in the laptop battery, but over such a long time you would probably not notice.
The mice on my desktop machines do the same thing, as I live in an area prone to electrical surges I shut down my machines and power strips every night and as soon as I do the laser light in the mouse goes out.
On my laptop I have a wireless optical mouse and when I finish using it, I remove the USB adapter, the USB adapter then slides into a receptical in the mouse and automatically switches the mouse off saving the mouse battery.
If it concerns you just unplug the mouse when it's not in use

MY mouse has a red light that continously flashes. I charge it at night and all day the red lit flashes. Time for a new mouse or what?????

You need to tell us more then "MY mouse"... but I'll try to help.
First: there must be button to power off/on your mouse, switch to off and then on. If red light continues to flash clean connections on mouse and on dock (where you charge mouse), try to charge it, if red light continues to flash check if you can replace battery if not it's time for new mouse.
