Do the code search, press and hold code search till the light goes solid. Then press the tv (or devide you wish to program) key. Then press on/off button repeatedly till the device turns off. Once it turns off, press enter. Done.
My problem is that the code search never finds the correct code for a CNX satellite receiver. Does anyone have any ideas if it can't find the code for your device? The CNX box supposedly uses a universal remote to begin with, it should be easy!! After trying a certain number of searches, the light blinks a few times and turns off, the satellite box never turns off. So the code search doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks all.

I you use a universal remote you might be able to use some of your programming features, you can get such a remote from Best Buy, Radio Shack, Target, or Wal-Mart. Now for the down side with the universal remote you will only get some of your programming functions as I said earlier. If you want all of those features you are going to have to contact the manufacture and order a remote for your television. There are places on line such as ebay, or amazon where you can buy a remote for this set, and this might be considered as an option also. In any event whether
you buy a universal remote or buy an OEM remote, you will need a remote to "properly" setup your TV. You can use the front panel controls for limited setup however doing that is tedious.
you might need to use the aux mode on the remote to separately control the dvd part of the set. follow the instructions in your remote programming guide to set the remote for dvd in the auxillary mode and try it that way.
We have a Sylvania 6313CB TV/VCR combo. I bought a universal remote and the code would not work when I tried to program it to the "TV" button using all those possible codes listed in the books. So, on the universal remote, there was a button named "VCR" and when I programmed in the code "0000" all worked. This was a $6.00 universal remote named "One For All" we bought at the Big Lots store.
Specifically, here is what I did:
Turned TV on
Pushed the "VCR" button and light blinked once
Pushed and held the "set" button until it blinked twice
Released the "set" button and entered the numbers "0000"
Pushed the on/off button and it worked including volume, channel up/down and channel change by entering the channel number.
Hope this works for you too.
if the universal remote you bought does not have the code for your tv then my friend you are in bad luck you cannot use another code that does not go along with your remote.try www.partstore.com and see if you can purchase a originald remote for you tv.good luck.
