All HP qualified service has a warranty. Call them ASAP before it expires.

If you still have warranty on your computer, I would demand a new computer, as they have had the opportunity to fix it, but failed.

Need recovery disc Compaq Presario SR1500NX

It's easy to get the Restoration Disk/s for an HP computer, Margaret.

May be able to guide you on here with repairing your computer also, and leave the 'GEEKS' at Best Buy to twiddle their thumbs, and make money off of someone else.

On the back of your Compaq Presario SR1500NX Desktop PC, is a white sticker.

Service Tag

You need to write down the Serial Number, to give to the nice representative on the phone, for HP Support.

(ONLY give out to an authorized HP representative. Do NOT post on a world-wide forum such as this)

S/N = Serial Number

In the USA call the toll free phone number - 1-800- 474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Restoration Disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

Not in the USA?
Use HP Support Worldwide,

http://www8.hp.com/us/en/hp-information/summary/ww-support.html

When you receive the Restoration Disk/s, turn the computer on, put the disk in the optical drive's tray. (CD/DVD Drive)

Drive closed let the disk load.
WHEN asked click on - Repair (Non-Destructive Installation)

This will repair the basic Windows files.

IF, you have a virus, AND cannot get rid of it, you'll have to take the computer back to Day 1, when it came from the factory.

This will be a Full Install. (Destructive Installation)

NOTE*
ALL of your personal information, AND any programs you have installed, will be GONE!

The computer will be back to Day 1 from the factory, and before you put anything on it.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

Ok I have a hp compaq presario cq62-210us. How do I use my biulded in webcam

If the webcam stopped working, or if the webcam icon is not displayed on either the desktop or the My Computer window, or cannot be started from the Windows Start menu, the webcam may be disabled. To enable the webcam, do the following actions.

1. Open the Device Manager .

2. Click on the plus (+ ) sign next to Imaging Devices and locate the webcam item in the device list.

3. If the webcam is listed under Imaging Devices but there is a red X on the icon, the webcam is disabled.

To enable the webcam, right-click the HP Webcam for XP icon and click Enable . The webcam icon should now display on the Desktop or the My Computer window.

Need systum disk for startup, missplaced mine

Contact HP Support at Contact HP.

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact/phone_assist.html#section1

On this page you want the 1-800-474-6836 phone number.

Toll free so it doesn't cost you anything, and a 24 hour - 7day a week service.

(Talking to them doesn't cost anything, like it does for some computer support.
I know it's a working number because I called it to verify)

Have the serial number of your computer written down, to give to the nice person on the phone.

This is located in the white Service Tag, on the back of your desktop computer.

The Restoration Disk is free. The shipping and handling is not. $17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

Very loud buzzing noise from laptop, underneath - most likely fan but am no expert so could be the drive? Noise starts about 2 minutes after powering it up from having been off all night. Guarantee ran...

Hi,

If the notebook is working fine otherthan the noise comming from the notebook, then you can try to download ans install the latest BIOS update for your notebook.

If you contact HP support with your notebook serial and product numbers, they can provide the BIOS update download link.

If the notebook is not working at all, I mean if there is no display on the notebook, then you have to try power drain.

Here are the steps to do power drain:

Try doing power drain by taking out the battery & keep holding down the power button for complete one minute to drain out the power from the computer components. Restart the computer after putting the battery in.
Try restarting the computer only with the AC power, without the battery & vice-versa.

If there is no display at all even after power drain then you can try remove and reseat the memory module (RAM)of your notebook. You can get manual on how to reseat the manula from HP.

As I said before, if the notebook is working fine otherthan the noise you have to get the BIOS update from HP.

There is free chat support from HP to get the BIOS update.

If you want to check if the sound the comming from the harddrive, then you can check the Harddrive from BIOS.

In BIOS you can find this option. If you want to know how to open the BIOS, then get back to me with the exact model number of your notebook, so that I can help you.

If you want to contact HP authorised service center then,

Please follow the steps listed below for assistance in locating a local HP Authorized Support Provider.

1. Go to the following Web site:
http://hp.infonow.net/bin/findNow?CLIENT_ID=HP_LOC_USA_SRV

This will take you to the find a US local HP authorized service
provider page.
2. In the category menu select the appropriate HP product.
3. After selecting the appropriate category you will get a list of HP products in the Family box. Select the family in which your
product is located.
4. After Selecting the family of the product you will get a list of
products under the product list.
5. Select your product from the list under the product section and click Next.
6. Follow the instructions on the service options page.
If no stores are located, repeat the search using another zip code within your local area.

I tried to provide complete infromation on this.
