Question about Vizio P2 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

1 Answer

Same problems as several other consumers. A few weeks ago my Vizio L32 started turning off on its own several times throughout the day. I would have to turn it on again. After being gone on vacation the tv will not come on at all the yellow lcd light is on. I have tried unplugging from unit and wall and waiting, not luck. TV is only 2 years old I think a tv should last longer than that in this day and age. I believe this should be a recall item by the company since alot of consumers are having the same problem. We have the same problem. I will be calling Cosco, but was checking here first. The TV will turn off on it's own and then make clicking noises like it's trying to turn back on. I have to turn it on again myself either by remote or power button on TV. Then last night, it was on and I pushed the power button on the TV, and it wouldn't turn off. What is up with this? This morning, it's turning off after just a couple minutes, we turn it on and after a few seconds it goes off again. We bought it in 2005, so it's just a few years old, I was worried the screen would start going bad, not this...

Hello, if it's shutting down and giving you trouble or staying on when you press the button, your set needs service. unfortunatly there isnt much you can claim if your waranty expires. there are different types of shutdowns caused by voltage spikes or drops. these sets operate at high heat and high voltages the parts go bad they loose there resistance and dont hold the proper specified loads they go haywire or dont turn on at all. so this is how they go bad even with short term use. you may want have it service. if the issue is constantly interupting your tv viewing if your set is not coming on at all. it is common with these newer lcd & plasma tv's. your fix is sort of simple a matter of exchanging or repairing a board or two. some of these fall of the stand and break instanly, i have heard of kids trowing wii's trough the screen glass. your tv is still worth its value if your main panel is good this is what the tv is built around. so if you have a circut issue maybe a button or panel that is fualty get it estimated and serviced.

hope this helps
happy holidays

It sounds to me like it's stuck in service mode. There is a button combination with the remote to return it to normal. I would call Vizio support and they should be able to help you.

I think it's a combination like [volume -], [channel -] and power but I could be wrong.

Vizio L32 TV won't turn on. yellow power light lit, should turn to green when button or remote is pressed, and set should come on. No response to either remote or manual buttons. No change after unplugging...

Had same prob;em. Replace main board and now works just fine. You need to take the back off and under the metal cover is the main board. The part number should start with 3320-xxxx-xxxx. You can purchase the board from Vance Baldwin. sign in as a guest. I will warn you the cost of the board is high.
