Hi carlayoung

Start the engine and turn the high speed screw "H" in(clockwise)until the engine starts to slow down(the fuel mixture is to lean, not enough gas).

Slowly turn the screw out(counterclockwise)until the engine begins to run smoothly, keep going very slowly until the engines just begins to run rough again(rich condition, watch for black smoke from exhaust).

Then turn the screw in again(clockwise) to a point about half way between lean and rich condition. This is the properly setting.

The low speed screw"L" adjust in the same manner.

The idle speed "T"adjust accordingly.

Base settings are one and a quarter on the L screw, and thre quarters on the high, you need to check the max rpm with a tacometer, it shpuld not exceed 12500rpm.

Petrol hedge trimmer.Brand new.Started fine ran long enough to trim one small shrub, then started on another when it stopped.Went through the starting procedure as stated in manual. No luck

If it is that new,and you have followed the start procedure and it still does not start, i would take it back to where you purchased it, messing about with it will invalidate the warranty

Need to know best way to adjust carb to get maximum performance on my homelite XL12

Regarding the adjustment procedure you generally start your low and high mixture screws at one turn from seat, or slowly turn them in all the way until they bottom out and then back them out one full turn. You will adjust the high speed mixture screw at full throttle and get the median point between too rich (loads up) and too lean (dies out). You will want to do the same thing with the idle mixture screw, just adjust at idle rpm. You will also adjust the low idle mixture screw to give you a smooth transition from idle to throttle up. Once this is obtained, you adjust the third or idle speed screw low enough so the chain does not turn at idle rpm but high enough so the saw doesn't cut off. Hope this gets you going.

Fuel mix and slow/fast running jet ajustment Dolmar sach 119. starts easy wont pull under load.

Set both the high and low speed screws from lightly seated to 1 1/4 turns out. This will give you a rough setting that will allow the saw to start and idle. Set the idle screw to where the chain just stops moving at idle.
With the saw warmed up adjust the low speed screw out until the saw smokes a bit and acceleration is sluggish. Bring the screw in small steps until the hesitation is gone from the acceleration...you may need to adjust the idle again after this.
Now hold the throttle wide open and while it is wide open adjust the high speed screw in until the noise becomes smooth and the saw "sings". Do not leave it at this setting as it will burn down in short order. Once the saw is singing back the screw out until you can hear the saw's tone "roughen"....then back the screw out a tad more for good power / fuel under load.
That's it in a nutshell...here's a good link also...

Engine dies upon acceleration after starting and idling

turn the high speed and low speed mixture screws right in[gently]then out 2.5 turns.start it up,screw the idle screw up till it will idle, then adjust low speed mixture screw in or out so you get the highest idle.keep lowering the idle so as you adjust the screw,it wont get it any higher in revs.so by now it should idle.next, open the throttle wide, and adjust the high speed screw until you get maximum revs..then,turn screw 1/4 turn out.that makes it slightly richer, cooling the plug with droplets of petrol.you dont want it lean.if it wont rev fully, check the fuel filter.they get dirty quite often

Have a poulan chainsaw that won't idle/stay running and bogs down when you press the trigger control. Do you need a certain wrench to adjust carb??

no carb ajustment is done with a flat head screwdriver, first i would remove the card, disassemble it and blast it with compressed air because its probably just clogged up with varnish. to ajust the high low and idle screws bottom both out ( turn in all the way) then unscrew each one turn. from there start the saw and loosen in 1/4 turn at a time until it runs well

Need carb h/l ajustemts and idle controle ajustment

This does take a little time to get it just right. Start at one full turn for the h and l. Work on the high first and after you get the H running work on the Low. They have to work together. So if you get it to idle and run at full throttle but it hesitates when you pull the trigger just adjust the low a little higher.
