Dyna-Glo RMC 95-C2

Hey there,

Would you please give me some assistance on replacing the wick on my kerosene heater? I'm sure you already read my story, but I'll post it in this box.
I have two Dyna-Glow RMC 95-C5 series heaters. I had one that was sitting in a shed for about 18 months and I got it out yesterday and cleaned it up real good and disassembled it. Then went out and bought a new wick for it. The wick adjuster knob wouldn't even turn, because it had built up rust inside over time and seized up. It was never left out in the rain, but I'm assuming that you have to completely empty out the old kerosene for storage and keep the thing in a climate controlled space. I worked on that thing for 2 hours trying to get the new wick in it. I don't think they could have possibly made it any harder to remove and replace the wick in those Dyna-Glows. They have these three metal pins with talons that have to be removed from the old wick (I'm sure you know the ones I'm talking about) I managed to get them out of the old wick and install them in the new wick then I installed the new wick and had the same problem you're having so I took the wick back out and cleaned some more of the rust up and tried installing the wick again and all the pins ended up breaking off of the talons when I was trying to put it back in because they're so fragile.
So, needless to say, if I can't get any replacement pins then I'll have to take it to the scrap yard.

Brian

I believe dyna-glow RMC95 series of heaters are equivalent to DH2300 series heaters. Go here to get to the manual.

SOURCE: need to see pictorial instruction

I think the Dyna-glow RMC95 series of heaters are equivalent to DH2300 series heaters.
In any event, the wick you purchased should have ahd the installation instructions included with the wick.

If it didn't or you tossed it, Here's a link to the DH-2300 series heater's Owners Manual, which may help you.

Good luck. Be sure to wear rubber gloves when you try to install the wick. Particularly, if you still have kerosene in the tank.

I just replaced the wick, cleaned up the heater and filled with new K-1 kero. The heater (Dyna-Glo RMC-95-C7) is emitting black smoke worst than ever. The wick is burning a little unevenly.

Either the wick was improperly installed or you may not have allowed enough time for the wick to soak in the kerosene and become evenly distributed. Check the placement of the new wick and allow time (several hours) for the wick to absorb the kerosene.

Have a Dyna Glo RMC-95-C2 and I can't get it to lite.

You have to change the batteries.. the manufacturer shipped it with **** batteries.

also take it apart.. very simple and clean out any soot..

Soot will cause heavy smoking...

The wick should last more than a year ....

Dyna Glo model 95 C2 wick replacement is a boogar even with so called instructions is there any trick to this wick is hard to hold in place and insert over round housing without pulling out 3 sidepins have...

turn the wick control knob all the way up before installing new wick. Put it all back together and make sure wick goes all the way down inside the groove when you push the shutoff lever. Do this several times. If not, then heater WILL NOT shut off !! P.S..use clear K-1 kerosene....the K-1 with red color seems to make bad carbon deposits on the wick...in a short time the wick becomes crusted and will not drop down to extinguish the flame. I had to open it up and put baking soda on the wick to put it out.

Can not replace wick in dyna glo serial number RMC-95-C2

As "guest" reported, the wick replacement for RMC95 series is the same as his posting for the DH2301.
After calling my local Tractor Supply and searching the net, I had it but it ain't easy. My sleeve doesn't come out necessitating cranking the knob up (wick will be level with the top) find the three holes (more like two are slot and one is a hole) then where the diagonal grooves are, there is ANOTHER HOLE which you must snap the pin in both of those all at once!
The good news is, you get one in, the rest are cake. I was pretty frustrated so I hope this helps others.
