Cant get pictures or videos to transfer to computer w/DXG-572V

Everytime I put the cable into the camera, the camera turns off and if I try putting the cable in and try to turn the camera on, the camera won't turn on. I have gotten around this by taking the memory chip out and putting into another camera and transferring, but with the video all I get is sound and no picture.
I bought this off e-bay and am hoping I didn't get screwed.

If the SD card is in, the camera always asked if I want to format. No matter the answer it just shuts the camera down.

The reason the sound plays and not the video after you transfer to computer is not the fault of the camera (probably). you need to update your video players codec to one that supports the file. search internet for a 'AVI codec' for whatever program your trying to play file with and you'll get both video and sound on playback. if it's windows media player 'microsoft.com' has it in their free downloads section.

No picture with videos

If you are using HDMI cables shouldn't happen. Can you see the picture for the videos on the camera screen? Check the connection and setup on the computer for videos. Make sure your computer supports the kind of videos you are shootiong at the speed it loads on the computer. Trying saving the files on the computer hard drive and then watching it from the computer.

I recently bought a SanDisk 4GB SDHC card for my DXG-572V. I put it in the camera, and I turned the power on. A screen comes up saying "Format Card?". I have tried selecting both "Yes" and "No", but...

Your problem is that you are trying to use an incompatible memory card.

The DXG-572V is not SDHC compliant and will only work with regular SD cards. In theory it's compatible up to 4GB but in practice there are few standard SD devices which work well with standard SD cards above 2GB.

DXG-572V playback hear sound but can't see video

the reason you can see the video on the camera but not on the computer is a simple fix. whatever program your trying to play the video on needs an update to its drivers. Type "AVI CODEC DOWNLOAD" then the name of the program your trying to play the video with. Example; "avi codec download windows media player" and you should see options pop up. if it is Windows Media Player i recommend Microsoft.com (but you get the idea). then download, install, and then just try to play it again and it should work fine. :)

Won't transfer video to the computer

You probably need a Mpeg 4 decoder. Try downloading on for free at divx.com and see if that does the trick.
