If "NEW VOICEMAIL" appear on the display, then your telephone has received a signal from your telephone service provider that you have a voicemail message waiting for you to retrieve from your telephone service provider. Contact your telephone service provider for more information on how to access your voicemail.
There are 3 ways to access your voicemail:
1. Call into the main office and have the receptionist transfer you to your mailbox.
2. Call into the main office and if you hear an Auto Attendant, select #. Then, enter your mailbox number and password.
3. If you know what number your voicemail is tied to, then you just call the number, select #, and then enter your mailbox number and password.
If none of these options work, then whomever programmed it may have turned it off and you may need to contact the tech.
The 7208 does not store messages. Do you have a Norstar Voicemail on the system? If so you need auto attendant or direct-in-dual access to retrieve messages. Or via your telco's voicemail if that's what you use.
You apparently have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.
What's answering the calls, is it the Panasonic system or the central office? When you figure that out, and it's locally, then post back with the model number of your phone sytsem cabinet and whether you dial 107 or 115 ot get into voice mail, or the message is left in the central office.
The display on a Nortel set will say "message for you" if there's a message in your mailbox. Access and other features vary by telephone company and location, so you need to contact your phone company for specifics. The voicemail light on your phone lets you know if you have new messages on your phone company system. To disable this light if you do not subscribe to this service: - Press PROG - Use the up/down arrow keys to select CLR VOICEMAIL - Press SELECT. The screen displays CLEAR? and YES flashes. - Press SELECT to confirm. You will hear a confirmation tone.

When you press the voicemail button on your phone it is retrieving messages stored internally in your phone. Verizons Voicemail is a seperate entity where the message reside on the server. If you do not want to use the Verizon Voicemail, simply call the business office and ask them to remove voicemail completely from the account. That way your phones internal answerming machine whille then catch all the voicemails and you can go back to using your voicemail button to listen to them. Hope that helps you and everyone else out.
