Find your carburetor assembly. you have a rubber tube coming from that to your to your oil breather. you can also look up your parts manual using the same info you gave here. Cub cadet 4621 zx390. looks like a kohler engine.
you ran out of petrol when using it
the normal thing is to get off it and refuel
so with it not starting check that you have reactivated all the safety switches by
applying the brake
sat in the seat
disengaged the drive and cutters
all that you have to do when initially starting the machine
there will be no reset button for running out of fuel
Disconnect the fuel inlet, outlet and return hoses at fuel pump.
Remove the two fuel pump mounting bolts, and remove the fuel pump.
Remove the fuel pump gaskets and insulator.
Check for leakage, if there is oil or fuel leaking from the breather hole, oil seal or diaphragm of fuel pump, the pump is defective. Replace fuel pump as an assembly.
INSTALLATION
Turn the crankshaft so the No. 1 cylinder is at top dead center on the compression stroke. NOTE : This is to minimize cam lift for ease of installation.
Insert the push rod into the cylinder head.
Install the new gasket and insulator, install the fuel pump.
Tighten the bolts firmly.
Connect the fuel hoses to the fuel pump ******* and tighten the hose clamps.
The only way for raw fuel to get into the oil is a leak in the diaphragm of a mechanical fuel pump. In modern cars with electric fuel pumps, there is no place on the engine where raw fuel can leak into the oil.
Check the metal vent tube on the fuel pump. When the diaphram goes out, oil will leak from the vent tube. If that is the problem, get it fixed pronto. Not always but there are some times when fuel gets mixed into the oil when the pump is going out and that thins the oil out. Keep on driving with this problem and you can kiss your engine good bye.
When/if you change the fuel pump out, make sure not to lose the push rod that is behind it. It goes between the camshaft and fuel pump.
