I got my GE Guide/gemstar last year. One day I was sitting here watching tv and it started to make a loud popping noiseand the screen would jump.I found that the noise came form the tv and the l onger it plays the louder it gets. Can you tell me what he problem might be and if it will be cost worthy to fix it??? Approx. how much will it cost???

ok, make it sure that the outlet is working by plugging-in like electric fan and if it works call a certified tech to check your TV(you cannot do that by yourself:( )...make it sure that your TV is not 4 years or older 'coz those outside tech they charge too much and it's better to buy a new one :)
It must be connected with the color circuit of your tv, a board connected to back end of the tube. Could be dust, cob web or carbon deposit shorting a transistor. Popping noise if loud enough can be attributed to high voltage circuit fault and picture tube.
6/1/2010 11:34:21 AM Good morning I have sound problem it started with the cable hook up there box to the television, now sound is very low. Turn up the TV control to max, nothing but low sound. Of course cable people have no idea of a problem, I disconnected the cable but the same problem, love the set work for two years, note: thing happen when all analog change to digital. help!
i hope this helps. on the tv, press menu, then channel up or down to "screen", then menu;
then channel up or down for adjust projection tv(6), then press menu;
then use the volume up and down, as well as the channel up and down until each of the 3 colors are lined up. press menu after each color i slined up to go to the next color.

Hopefully its only the lamp. Inspect lamp for breakage. Lamp power supply ok??. Check any air vents (filters if any) before replacing. Lamp life is only a few thousand hours, easy to do in a year, 5-6hrs a day. Check your manual.
The color wheel is the most common problem in DLPs that cause noise.
To determine the cause:
Turn the set off.
If the noise goes away after about five seconds, then, the problem is the color wheel.
If the noise goes away one to two minutes after shut off, then, the problem is a fan.
