Question about Televison & Video
I HAVE A MAGNIVOX BLUE RAY PLAYER MODEL # NB500MG9. WHEN I HOOK IT UP TROUGH THE HDMI PORT ON BOTH PLAYER AND TV IT WILL ONLY PLAY MOVIE FOR ABOUT TEN SECONDS, THEN IT GOES TO A BLACK SCREEN, THEN BACK TO THE MOVIE AND SO ON. IT IS ACTING LIKE I AM SWITCHING THE INPUT ON THE TV BUT I AM NOT. IF I HOOK IT UP WITH NORMAL AV CABLES IT WORKS FINE BUT THE PICTURE IS NO BETTER THAN A REGULAR DVD PLAYER
SOURCE: will not play Blue Ray DVD
I had the same problem. Try this. Contact Sharp and have them email you the firmware update. You will need to download it from the email and transfer it to the player via a flash drive. See if that works. I am about to return my Sharp Blu Ray player to Costco and go back to DVD. There seem to be a lot of problems with the technology. Even when movies start to play, they have freezes and it is sometimes hard to get the menu to show up

Assuming it will play regular DVD's I'd suggest you connect it by scart also and set your TV input to scart.
I don't think DVD's carry High Def. data, that being the case, your player may auto route the data via scart.
