Can you explain more please ?

The Nikon D40 does not have shutter release or as known cable release, but does have a wireless remote control release.

If the shutter is not working properly....

Remove the battery and reinsert.
Remove the memory card and try again
Check the lens is correctly fitted.
Is the lens a compatible fit

If your batteries are okay (try charging them overnight) it sounds like you'll have to send the camera in for service. Call Nikon Coolpix support at 1-800-645-6687

Here is a link to the Nikon support page which has lots of good info:

Error message "Err 01" on Sony IC BX700

are the power cells identical in every way to the old cells? Any variation can be a problem. Evidently the cells are in correctly or you would not get any message; so this may be related to a circuit board issue. A continuity test would locate the source, and if you do not have test equipment; take it to a camera shop for service.

Contact retailer or Nikonauthorized service representative. • Delete unwanted ?¬ les or insert new memory car after removing and replacing the memory card and powering off then back on your cam, you may see how the system now registers your photos will having to click back and forth between AUTO and MAN. I posted very closely related troubleshooting steps to take in order to prevent your CAM from performing badly. Check your CAM batteries to ensure they are using only approved NIKON batteries as anything else will cause you lots of errors and potential problems. When you using the timer or remote options, remember these are controlled by battery as well, radio frequency, and radio wave lengths. When you press the button to take a photo, inspect the button, press firmly for a second and release. If your button is not performing the way it should, inspect it to see if any wear and tear is visible to you. Check free deprey around the button such as DUST, HAIR BUILDUP, and small particals that are hardly visible to the human eye. With very low velocity pressure air, blow around the shoot button as build up will cause the same error your experiencing.

Picture button stays depressed

What may fix your button is a VERY tiny amount of WD-40 you might try placing a single drop with a swab or toothpick. The drop should be allowed to enter the camera. This amount of lubricant PROBABLY wont be detrimental, and it may fix the stuck button.
