Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

CHECK PRINTER I think that my printer ink cartridge is clogged. That is the only think i can come up with. Are there any sollutions to this problem? How would I try to clean it? I have tried to re-install it, but the printer bar won't even move and I see ink at the bottom of the printer. Is the printer ruined by this? Thank you, Joy McGrane

If the printhead is clogged
Please try head cleaning.Buy alcohol solution (70% or more). You can find it in any drug store.

* Remove both cartridges from the printer head. Unplug the printer head from the printer body. Pour the alcohol into paper towel layer.

* put the printer head on the top of wet towel with the face of HEAD touching the towel.

* clean the head with the towel and get rid of all the built-up ink on the head.

* Pour the alcohol into the printer head container (ink-receptacle area is where the ink cartridge normally sits, notice a small hole where the ink flow into the printer). Do not touch any electronic parts and let it dry over night.

* Do step 2-5 again if necessary.

* Install the cartridge back to the printer and run several head cleaning maintenance, print nozzle check, make sure to repeat this step until no more dead nozzle shown or
click on start / settings / printers & faxes

Not recognizing ink cartridge?

1.Check the ink. Printers are picky machines. They are programmed so that they would recognise a particular kind of ink. Thus, when you buy compatible ink cartridges, make sure that these ink are truly ones specifically made for your printer. Otherwise, the ink will not work with your printer.

2.Follow the instructions to the letter. Just like the manufacturers of original printer cartridges, the manufacturers of compatible ink cartridges have instructions on how you should place and install the cartridges in the printer. You should follow these instructions to the letter so you can be sure that they would work.

3.Clean the printer head. It is also possible that the reason why the printer would not recognise the compatible ink cartridges you bought is that the printer head itself is clogged. Such problems can occur, especially when you have not used the printer in a long time. You can clean the clogged printer heads with a cleaning solution made especially for printer heads.

If the cartridge itself is the one that is blocked, you can try soaking the cartridge in warm water first. Afterwards, dry it with a lint-free rag and then install it in your printer.

4.Check the circuitry in your printer. Another possible reason why the printer would not read your compatible ink cartridges is that the printer itself has a problem with the circuitry. You can try topping the cartridge with ink first before reinstalling it into the printer.

If that fails, you should bring your printer to the repair shop. Be warned though: If your printer is under warranty, the warranty will no longer be valid if it is found out that you have used compatible ink cartridges.

Canon mx700 not recognizing cartridges

I suspect that your have a damaged refilled cartridge. Also, you may have a clogged nozzle. Canon printers are sensitive to the quality of the ink used in the cartridges and refill ink sometimes does not meet the manufacturer's specifications. You can check this by inserting a new OEM cartridge, running the deep cleaning utillity three times and a aligning the printhead. The other problem may be that the electronic chip on the refilled cartridge may either be damaged or blocked by dried ink. In any case, you need to discard the failing cartridge and replace it.
Let me know if this solves the problem. Thanks.

My HP Deskjet D4260 printer has been unused for 2 years. I have been told it would be useless to replace dried cartridges, because the inkjets themselves are probably clogged, and therefore the printer is...

That is absolutely not true. The printer you have uses integrated print head cartridges. This means every time you replace the ink cartridges you are replacing the print heads. Throw out the dried up ink cartridges and buy new ones. Your printer takes the HP 74 black and HP 75 color cartridges. There are XL versions of these cartridges that hold more ink and are a better value.

Take the plastic strip off the ink jet cartridge before putting the thing in the printer.  Check the ink jets to see if they are clogged.

Printer cartridge low

It is very unlikely that this is a sensor issue. The ink is probably dry or the cartridge itself is clogged. You could get a syringe and possibly inject something into the top of the cartridge to thin the ink, but unless you literally just installed the cartridge it probably isn't worth your time. I think there are ink refill kits online for these.

Adding new ink might also help to thin the old ink.

Printer doesn't recognize red cartridge

The ink cartridge is either either clogged or running out of ink. Run the software cleaning utility (almost always accessible from the printer) in order to fix a clog. Replace the ink cartridge if the clog cannot be fixed or if the cartridge is almost empty.
