Try holding the hold button and home button for 50 seconds
or

  • Connect your IPOD Touch to iTunes
  • Press or Hold the power and home keys 10 seconds.
  • Screen goes black, now release the power button
  • Make sure you do not release the Home key until your iTunes says "We have detected an itouch in recovery mode."
  • After this its simple all you got to do is a simple restore using your iTunes

My ipod

The iPod is a portable music player made by Apple. As of early 2011, Apple sells four models: iPod shuffle, iPod classic, iPod nano and iPod touch. If your iPod experiences a problem such as not responding or freezing, you can reset it to see if that takes care of the problem. IPod Shuffle The iPod shuffle is the smallest iPod model, with 2GB of storage.
It has no screen and attaches to your clothing with a clip, making it well suited for exercising while listening to music.
When it doesn't respond, or if the status light is solid red, you can reset it.
Slide the three-way switch left toward the word "Off," covering the green bar. Wait 10 seconds, and then slide the switch back to reveal the green bar to turn it back on.
IPod Classic
The iPod classic has a 160GB hard drive for storing music, videos and pictures.
If it experiences a problem, you can easily reset it.
Slide the "Hold" switch to the "Hold" position and then slide it back.
Press "Menu" and the center button simultaneously on the click wheel and hold them for about six seconds, until Apple's logo appears on the screen.
IPod Nano
Apple's iPod nano has a touch-screen display and comes with 8GB or 16GB of storage, depending on the configuration.
It has a pedometer and an FM radio.
If the iPod nano doesn't respond, reset it.
Press the "Sleep/Wake" button and the "Volume Down" button simultaneously and hold them until the screen gets dark, and then wait a few more seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen, followed by the home screen.
IPod Touch
The iPod touch has a touch-screen display, two cameras for shooting pictures and movies, and Wi-Fi for accessing the Internet. Its capacity ranges from 8GB to 64GB, depending on the configuration.
You can use the iPod touch to send email and make video calls, as well as play games and run applications. If the iPod touch freezes or otherwise isn't working, you can get it running again after resetting it.
Press the "On/Off-Sleep/Wake" button and the "Home" button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds, until Apple's logo appears on the screen.

My 8gb itouch volume keeps going down and when i slide it back it keeps going back down. what can i do to not have this anymore. some guy at an apple store i was at in sunnyvale said it was a software...

It could be a product defect. But I'd suggest shutting it down and if that doesn't work, hard-reseting your itouch before trying to return it.
If you want to try this: -Hold the top button until it shuts down.
or
-Hold both of the top and Home button.
or
-Restore through iTunes.
:)

Itouch conect problem

jus go through the previous posts and you will find the solution...anyways here it is:
  1. Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPod touch to turn off.
  2. Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPod. When you reconnect the USB to iPod, the device should then power on.
  3. Continue holding the Home button while iPod starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo.
  4. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message:
  5. Restore and it'll download ~240mb firmware and you're done

When i unlock my itouch the screen works fine then when i try to click something on the itouch it dousnt work what should i do>?

Have you tried rebooting it? By holding the sleep/wake button and sliding the turn off slider. If that doesn't work, hold sleep/wake and the home button at the same time. Or you could try a restore.

Hope that helps!

Take the battery out for 1 minute, and put it back in and try again.

Itouch volume realy messed up! plz help!

and you are sure the volume is all the way up? If the headphone jack thinks there is something in there the ipod touch will only play through the headphones. you can try to blow out any dust in there with a can of air and that might solve your problem.
