My laptop does't detect my d:/ drive [cd & dvd], i've tried restoring it from an earlier time [system restore] to no avail. I need someone's help! Worst of all I cannot run any disk, like everyone else tells me to download the drivers from the "main disk". I would sincerely appreciate it.

Cutemah, Is your cd/dvd internal or usb? Have you tried to login using safemode? When the first Toshiba screen appears press the F8 key. Choose safe mode. Since you say the cd/dvd isn't being recognized that too may be the problem. Try removing the cd/dvd player and see if the machine starts. Is the error code only 0x57 or is there more? It is sounding more hardware related than software related. What program are you using to format the hard drive? Send me a little more information please. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim

Where is the mic on a toshiba satellite M35-S351

From all of the documentation that I can find, it appears that it has no built-in microphone, but only a microphone jack in the front of the unit, which is monaural (not stereo).

Toshiba Satellite Notebook M45-S351 I recently purchased an upgraded hard drive - 160 GB Samsung Spinpoint and upgraded the RAM (Crucial 1 GB, bringing the total to 1.5 GB of the allowable 2 GB). Impetus...

Remove thwe new RAM and hard drive. Does it boot to the BIOS menu? If yes, add the hard drive and do the same again then add RAM and do the same.
I suspect something does not fit in properly. Probably the RAM.
Don't forget to initialise the hard drive if trying to format it. The System disk should take care of that.

I accidentally erased my dvd driver for my toshiba satellite m40/m45 series laptop, and I cannot even use my recovery disc to reinstall it, because I cannot use my DVD player to use my recovery disc.

Option 1: Download the DVD drive from the Toshiba website for free and install it.

Option 2: If you could manage to a get a external DVD drive that can be connected by the USB and use your recovery disk to get a clean install.

The first option would help to fix the problem withouth going for a clean install. But in case you are going for Option 2, then I would recommend you to take necessary backup of all your data.

I have a M45 S351 notebook with a blank monitor. Power is on but no picture on screen. What can I do?

You can connect to an external monitor using the port. If this does not work the video card can be bad. If the external screen does work then it could be your lcd.

Toshiba Satellite M45-S351 BIOS password needs help!

BIOS passwords on Toshiba notebooks have to be reset by an authorized service technician who has the CD available to run the utility.  Their notebooks don't contain a battery reset to erase the password.  It was done as a safety feature to prevent theft from happening and it is a very good one.
If you take it into Best Buy or a computer dealer to get it done, you might have to prove that you are the new owner of the computer before it can happen.

Toshiba M45-S351

Generally a bad hard drive, but it could also be an operating system error/glitch. Do a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If the repair doesn't take, then reformat the drive and install a new operating system. If you have any issues during or after the format and install, then the hard drive has failed and will need replaced.
