I have a 65 inch toshiba cinema series it's says

if a large rear projection set that just says HD, it likely is HD ready which means it needs a set top box connected to the Colorstream input marked 1080 on the rear of the set--It will only likely be 1080i and not p---owner manual would confirm this.

How does it help to have a Full HD LCD TV?

Hi - welcome to Fixya,

There is no advantage in buying a Full HD (1080p) TV if you are only using it for watching TV. Currently, there are no Full HD television broadcasts and there are no plans to introduce any. All UK HD channels currently broadcast in 720p resolution whether they are on Sky, Freeview, or Freesat. Therefore, any TV that is described as 'HD ready' rather than 'Full HD' will display all HD channels at maximum quality or resolution.

The advantage of Full HD is when using them with Blu-ray DVD players, gaming systems, e.g. Sony Playstation, or for playback of media files from your PC. These systems output at 1080p / Full HD (but only when connected with an HDMi cable) and you would need a full HD TV in order to get the best quality / resolution from these systems. However, you don't need a Full HD TV to connect these devices as they can all display their output on a 720p HD Ready TV.

The main disadvantage of any HDTV (1080 or 720) is when watching standard definition (SD) broadcasts. Full HD TVs have 1080 horizontal display lines, but SD broadcasts only have 540 horizontal lines. When watching SD channels on an HD TV, the other 540 lines, i,e half of the picture, are being created by software within the TV - known as 'Upscaling'. Upscaling requires processing by the TV which takes time and fast motion can seem blurred or blocky/pixellated as a result. Higher end TVs have faster response times (0.5ms or less) which minimises the pixellation so this specification is important when selecting an HD TV for purchase.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

If we have an hd-ready television and we have dishnetwork hd does their box make our tv hd? Or do we have to have their magical piece of equipment to make our television hd?or tv is the WS-55315 model.

You need a HD box connected to the DTV input on the back of the set (it is marked 1080) This set has only one HD input for this---HD ready means it will work only with a box (some newer sets have a HD tuner built into them and for basic HD channels do not need a box).

Brought a logic hd ready tv yesterday but can't

You will still need a HD box connected to the TV to send a Hi Def signal to the Televisions display, A la HD "ready" TV's. I know I had my 1st for over a year before ever seeing even 720 let alone 1080 ><.

Top left side of picture blur

You may have to clean the crt's and lenses and the mirror. Unit may need total convergence from the service menu. If image is blurred in only one area like the corner I would suggest NOT to adjust the electrical or mechanical focus.

The answer is simple really. You can't connect your PS3 to your TV with a USB cable. You need an HDMI cable.

Sony KDSR50XBR1 50 black screen, no faults! Lamp working, fans OK Sony KDSR50XBR1 50" HDTV: The light engine was working fine before the fan quit starting on it's own. After disassembly, cleaning and lubrication of the fan, I have no errors but the input display or menu options will not post on the screen. The lamp is on but seems to either be projecting a solid black picture, or not be at full brightness and there are no faults. I have a solid greed LED on top, but can get no picture. Sound is fine. What should the lamp voltage be at operating mode? I have tried reseating connectors and pushing on the wires to make sure the connectors seat. This is baffelling because the lamp fired fine for 1 second before the stuck fan issue was corrected and I have no faults now after lubricating the fan. I'm going to check connectors again today as a triple check; as I did remove the power supply. The TV has been reset per instructions in the book. Any advice would be much appreciated but I cannot believe it's the OB as it worked fine before the fan quit and it's about 14 months old. I'm thinking something may not be assembeled correctly, but everthing seems to be pretty idiot proof for re-assembly. Also the menu or input banners will not post. I have 2 new lamps, so it's not that.It seems to be stuck in somne black screen mode. The large fan does start by itself now after cleaning and lubrication, therefore no fault blinks. Please help!!!
