Question about Acer Aspire 5100-5022 Notebook
The mainboard has been replaced in this pc 4 times under Acer warranty and once by cyber test under walmart extended warranty. Now is going out to cyber test for mainboard # 6, think there may be a problem with this model-( MB.ABE02.001)
Reminds me a of a story from days of Yore. I had purchased a Packard Bell desktop. Nothing fancy, but good enough to serve my purposes. Shortly after the purchase, the floppy drive failed. At the time, I was working exclusively on IBM pc's, so I had a solid diagnostic philosophy and had determined that the floppy was, without a doubt, defective. I went to the point of jury rigging an old IBM floppy to work until the replacement arrived. They wouldn't send me a replacement and insisted on sending someone out to replace it (Ah,those were the days.) Anyway, this guy came out and replaced it. Within a couple of days, that floppy drive failed! I called back and they wanted to go through the same process, and I was not in the mood to do that. After a lengthy and fruitless discussion, I was no where near being satisfied. Did some research, came up with the name of the CEO of Packard Bell and gave him a call. We had quite a discussion and 3 days later I ended up with a new computer being delivered to my door. On the invoice, a note had been written by the CEO that stated that they were to send me one of their high end systems, which was much more than what I originally purchased.
The moral of the story is that you should be able to get your replacement or refund now. You've been through enough. All you need to do is to find the right chain to **** in any company. If the first person you talk to can't, or won't, help to your satisfaction, don't accept a callback! Stay on the phone until you get the next higher person on the phone. Be insistent and assertive, but not aggressive. Talk to them nicely, but firmly, and explain to them step by step what you have gone through to this point in time. Who knows? Might work and is certainly worth the time.
