Why does mercury 2001 click after battey replaced

The battery is either DEAD or the cables are not properly installed (loose or >) The 'clicking' is the starter solenoid trying to engage.

A question

Does your monitor on the laptop have a power switch, seperate from the system power switch? this might be the case, and if so you will need to turn it on :) it might also be a wiring problem, where the battery wires have become disconnected from the screen. Hope this helps :)

Stays on even if HU (CDA-9833) is off

It is possible that the SIR unit stays powered as long as the red wire is powered, since it is normally connected to a switched source. To test this, disconnect the red wire or move it to a switched source (you could even add a switch on the wire and flip it manually). If the battery stays healthy after that, then the red wire being constantly powered is the problem. Otherwise, it is possible there is a problem with the Ai-NET cable connected to the SIR unit.
