Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

1 Answer

Wireless Router Causes XP PRO to Crash. I just purchase a Linksys WRT110 wireless router and installed it using the EasyLink setup cd. The install went OK but Windows XP PRO immediately crashed and continually rebooted until I powered off the laptop (Lenovo T42) and the router. I can access the internet with this laptop by either wiring the laptop directly to the cable modem or directly wired to another router. As soon as I plug in the new router to the power supply the system crashes and reboots even though it is not wired to the laptop. The MS error message says "Problem caused by Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2200 BG adapter software (w22n51.sys) created by IBM. Download updates for Intel PRO.........". I looked at the Lenovo support site but could not determine which patch might help. I spent a couple of hours chatting with Linksys support but they could not help me and finally said to return the router. They gave me the instructions to manually configure the router but the problem is that the system continually crashs as long as the router is powered on. Can someone please help me with this?

I can't run that command "windows cannot find eventvwr.mscin...."....This is the message I get from MS after the system recovers.

This problem was caused by Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2200BG adapter software (w22n51.sys), which was created by IBM Corporation.
Download updates for Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2200BG adapter software (w22n51.sys)

Thank you for your help but this did not fix the problem. I downloaded and installed all updates identified by radarsync then rebooted the laptop. When the router was plugged in the system crashed. The Event Viewer shows a System Error 102 Event Code 1003.

Do you get an error message??
    Type
eventvwr.mscin in the run window and look under applications for a red ex just after the crash(note the time). It would specify which module crashed.

My apologies it was a typo...
the command is eventvwr.msc

what you need to do now is install a program called radarsync (google it) AND BE VERY CAREFUL TO UNCHECK THE OPTIONS OF ALL THE TOOLBARS IT WILL ASK YOU TO INSTALL THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

ITS A FREEWARE THATS WHY ALL THE TOOLBARS but trust me you dont want them.
let the tool scan for updates for your computer install the update you find for the wireless card and reboot
you shouldnt be getting the problem anymore
please rate if his fixes your issue
thanks

How to install a wireless router without installation CD

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wirelesssettings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also thewireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with theserouter's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down andput it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on thislink and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

I am trying to install a Linksys wrt 110 wireless router without the installation cd

Connect all the cables then hop on a PC connected to the router. With a web browser go to: 192.168.1.1 Here you will enter "admin" (without the quotes) for BOTH the username and password. Once you are in you may configure the router to your liking.

Router setup
You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

CANT ACCRS WIRELESS ROUTER WRT110 BY LINKSYS CISCO

Sounds like the router needs to be reset..

Before you do a reset try to login to the router by typing 192.168.1.1 in the webrowser ..

If that fails then look on the back or under the router and there is a reset button. Press and hold for 10 sec ... The let sit for a min or 2 then try logging into it..

Note: That the router will have to be setup again. Default login admin for the password .. don't enter any usernames

You have DSL, so you need to access the router's setup page and put your username and password in the PPOe settings.
See this page for instructions:

Also, your DSL provider is a good source of tech support and they will help you set it up.

It means you have to plug in your computer to the router through a ethernet cord. Most computers have one, and on the back of thats router has 4 ehternet female ports. Plug it in, and run it again.
