Ice maker removal

We need to remove the ice maker in a Maytag MFI2568aes refridgerator. Something is stuck or in a bind and we can not see or reach into it while installed.

I have the same issue but I know I have ice that is jamming the ejectors. I cannot figure out how to remove the ice maker for it does not just pull out. Is there a hidden screw to undo??

I have read to just use a plastic utensil to remove - yeah right! The utensil will break before the ice will. I need to remove the whole maker and then remove the jam.

Thanks for anyone that can answer this question!

First of all remove the ice bucket. then you will see a wiring cover on teh left hand wall just below teh icemaket. there is a rectangular hole in this cover. using a small precision scredriver carefullly insert into this hole and push up or and down to release a hidden clip. the trick is to pull on the wiring cover while you try to maneuver the clip. first time you do it it can be very frustrating but keep working at it and you will get it.
alternately you could just leave the Icemaker in place and use a hairdryer to melt the jammed ie out of the way. good luck peyton

You need to remove this wire cover, then, on the left right below the unti there is a plastic clip you hold to the right slowly pull wntire unit out. Keep in mind, it will get hel up because of the hose coming down intoth unit, so just pull gently 3/4 of the way out. Then, disconnect the wiring and wallah, it's out.

Sounds like the thermostat inside the ice maker that allows the heater to come on during harvest cycle is bad. You will need to replace the ice maker.

My ice maker on Maytag MF12468AE stopped making ice. When I add water to the tray, the cubes form but are not ejected. Is the the water valve bad or is the entire ice maker itself bad?

The ice maker is bad and they have been discontinued by the manufacturer. Luckily, there is a replacement part that works in your machine, part number W10477228. The reason I say its bad is because it should have atleast ejected the ice that was made when you poured water in it if it were working properly. The only other thing it could be is that the temperature is not cold enough in the ice maker area, which is 10 degrees F or colder. If the temperature isn't at least that then the ice maker won't cycle at all.

Ice maker isn't making ice...

check the white plastic lever inside the ice box. it needs to be in the down position to make ice and is probably stuck.
