Form your Xbox 360 you need to be connected to the Internet by a straight LAN line or wirelessly. You can test you connection by going to the setting screen on your Xbox 360.
Once connected to the Internet for your Xbox 360 go to your main account screen and find the tab that says "Join Xbox LIVE" click on that link then follow the simple instructions that the Xbox LIVE will provide. At this point you should have a name in mind for your gamer tag.
Xbox 360 LIVE has several different options available for memberships. They are a monthly, 3-month and 12-month membership accounts. I would recommend a simple one month account if you just wanted to check out the features offered on XBOX 360 LIVE. If your an avid gamer and love to play games online with friends, the 12-month Gold membership is the way to go.
Once you've completed the process of joining Xbox 360 LIVE, they will send you a confirmation email confirming your membership. Now you can log on to Xbox 360 LIVE and start doing this like customizing your avatar and playing online multi-player games.
Right, lay your Xbox360 down dont keep it upright, try installing COD4 to your hard drive then once installed go into you game library and click on cod4 and click play from hard drive ( and if you dont know how to install games to the hard drive make sure your xbox isnt on automatic start when a disc is inserted and put the disc in and when it says play cod4 press Y and then click install to hard drive) hope this helped....
how many times have you tried to play the disc? the 360 is prone to many disc read errors, and most of the time if you just keep trying to play the disc it will work. xbox recognized the problem, and with the new dashboard update you can install games to your hard drive which minimizes the time the disk is spinning, which in turn minimizes disk read errors.
if it doesn't play, I would deffinetly try getting a new copy before sending in the console. getting a new copy is just a trip to the store, sending in the console will take a month.
imma suspect its overheating. beings the fact youve experienced the red ring of death in the past. its either overheating or the hard disk is going bad. unless your using a memory unit. then id point the finger at overheating. the x360 is basically a computer. and when the cpu and gpu overheat or experience harsh temperatures they tend to run sluggish and their performance goes down the **** till they cool down or overheat to the point that the system locks up and crashes/hangs. if you can post more info as much detailed as you can i may be able to more help ya!
If its only in online and not in single player then the only thing it can be is lag, there must be a bad connection from your router to your xbox maybe you're using wireless and its too far away from the xbox? Hope this helped.
Is your Internet connection able to Reach to the Xbox 360?? If it is then you probably have to try asking a friend to join your game to see if it works. If it doesn't work then try moving the Xbox 360 closer to your Wireless Connection. O Btw... People dont always join your games.
there have been xbox live problems running rampant throught these past few weeks, so that most likely is the problem. hopefully that will get fixed in a few days by microsoft. another possible reason is that cod4 servers are generally unstable, especially on the ps3. IW has had problems for quite a while. I've heard that logging out then in for XBL solves the problem for the 360, but this is just a maybe. eventually (hopefully soon) IW will release a patch to combat these issues.
