Hi,

Thanks for asking FixYa for help. My name is Jeff and I will be assisting you today. The bad news is it sounds like the motherboard is fried. The good news is it looks like you can buy one for $10.

You can fiddle with the memory to make sure it's tight, but if the har drive is working the motherboard is on its last legs.

If you are in need of additional help, please let us know.

Thank you for allowing us to help you today.

Dvd writer

Given that this board was distributed with an AGP 8x interface, supporting Windows XP and processors up to P4 at 3.2 GHz, it is not likely that the motherboard is related to any issues with writing to a CD/DVD drive. It is possible there is some other issue, perhaps with the drive itself, or with the software being utilized to perform the writing functions.

If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Hi bonusglass, click on the link below for all software/drivers for the ASUS P4P800 SE MB.

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P4P800%20SE

You will not find a driver for USB's. The reason you will not is USB's are updated through windows update service. There may be another reason your USB's are not working. Enter into your bios & open your manual to help you navigate while in the bios. See section 4.4 "Advanced menu", page 4-16. High-light & open "USB Configuration". See section 4.4.6 page 4-25.
Make sure all USB's are enabled in your bios. After making changes, save the bios & exit. The system should restart & your USB's should function.

If by some chance your USB's still do not function just let me know what operating system you are running. Include information about your CD/DVD writer. Is it external? Name & model number please.

Good luck bonusglass!
Mike

Computer kept on restarting

First off take out your pc ram, then listen for a alarm to beep continually. If it does not beep then either your mobo is not getting power or it overheats for some reason and the protection functionalities in the bios has been set to switch off or it is broken.

Basically strip down your pc to bare essentials to get it working. Only hook up one ide/sata drive your os drive, one cd/dvd rom, powersupply to mobo and cpu and ram offcoarse. Start from bottom and work your way up.
