Most likely not.
There IS a risk of the camera taking damage but if it's a "standard" computer virus the risk of the camera being "infected" should be very very slim.

I think my sigma sd14 has a virus. I just got it, it's new. Then I connected it via usb to my pc WHICH i forgot is extremely infected by virus. Now everytime i access my dslr it wont ON if my memory card...

Cameras do not get viruses. The effect of the virus may only be on the memory card of your camera. Try to format the card using your camera's built in feature. BEWARE though that you will lose all files in the card when you format it.

To resolve your virus problem in your computer, carefully follow these steps :

1. Download, update, and scan your computer using Malwarebytes from this link.
2. Delete all infections found by Malwarebytes then restart your computer.

My sony cybershot DSC-S950 effected with virus just i have retrive my photos at any cost.

use asoftech photo recovery program to scan your usb and then recover your files.
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

This software scans all storage space on usb and then join pieces together to recover photos. So even virus affected your file table, and put virus to boot sector, the program can still be used to recover your photos.

You need to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

My casio ex-s10 is not turning on. I remember it having been infected by an unknown virus then one day the memory card just got full then it wont turn on again. its not even responding when being connected...

Hi, Please remove your connection with PC. Then check your batteries for malfunction, replace with new ones if necessary. Turn on your camera, if fail , remove your infected memory card and turn On again your camera. Is it solve the problem?. Normally the virus will just make your device 'hang' or ' data corrupt ( no access to data)'.

My wife's camera seems to work fine, but after taking a picture it does not store the image on the memory card. Any suggestions?

dear sir,

the first suspect should be your memory card, ahich has either worn out or being corrupted or being infected by viruses, put the memory card in a card reader and format it and use............

if the memory card works fine in other cameras, then ur camera is being affected by virus ahile you have transfered datas to any untrusted devices...........

thank you..take care..............

I have been using Samsung Digimax 301 Digital Camera since 2004 when I purchased it. Suddenly now I find that my beautiful camera began showing 'full memory' after only three pictures were captured....

Sounds like your camera has switched over to storing pictures on the internal memory which is very small. With the card out of the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, using a separate card reader, download any pics from the memory card. Then, insert the card back into the camera and do the "format" thing again to erase and initialize the card. Everything should be back to normal. By the way, your camera can't get a virus.

Why does it say memory card error on the screen

Hi there, For few reason camera showing memory card error.
1. Memory card damaged.
2. your memory card finished is life time storage memory.
3 . virus infected.
4. If your memory card storage capacity more than camera support card then its also show to you. For example your camera support maximum 2 GB card, but your try to use more than 2 GB memory card.
I suggest your remove the memory card and scan by updated antivirus. After that, if not working then fomat it and try.
Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

Downloading pics to memory card

a virus is present in your pc, infecting the memory card. I suggest that whenever your card leaves the camera and used in any computer or lab, always format the card in your camera not in pc cause this will gonna erase all the pictures including the virus. virus in cf cards wont destroy your camera but it will make it operates like crazy. Make it a standard operating procedure to always format card inside the camera.
Photolab will be able to read even a corrupted card.
